Title: Script database
Post by: Blizzard on October 09, 2009, 09:35:18 am
I just counted how many scripts we have in the database. Guess what.

152 RMXP scripts
16 RMVX scripts

LMFAO!! I just went through the database and thought to myself ...
DAMN!! That is a lot of scripts. Then, I scroll down to the VX section.

It was like comparing a boner to a flaccid penis, and it made me proud. XD. All hail XP!!

I was just at RRR and I saw that they have only 175 scripts. O_o Maybe winkio was right about us. We actually could be the scripting center of the RM community. O_o

FUCK YEAR!

Well, it's pretty sick that we've got a nice mix of veteran scripters (many of which having experience all out programming) and amateurs looking for something to do and taking up projects that can be considered interesting to say the least.

While many are initially attracted by the more prestigious scripts (BABS, Remexos, etc.), they stay for the wide variety and community.

Hey I'm going to get back into rgss2 scripting, and maybe get some more VX scripts here.
Then we'll definetely have a wide variety.

Meh, most people don't even care about VX.

Blizz you do realize that this site is what it is because you created BABS and Tons right? not only is this the most stable site out there right now but it is also the only one that I know is growing instead of falling apart (others might be but I don't see it)

off topic summed up, weather or not you like it your a bit of a legend in the RM world because of the scripts you have made. as such you pull other scripters to you. why else do you think I can here almost three years ago? to get scripts and learn how to make my own so that I could customize my game of course!  :P

Blizz attracts lots of members, the community creates an environment that keeps new members coming back, asking questions, and contributing.  This is a place where each member gets noticed.  Your questions get answered, your contributions get noticed.  It's the perfect environment for amateur, intermediate, and high level developers.  Credit to everyone, and extra special credit to Blizz :)

I know. It's a good way to show confidence by being self-centered. <3 But don't overdo it or it will just seem that you're insecure about yourself.

oh yeah, Blizz, did you count every scriptlet in Tons individually, or did you count Tons as just one script?

But... but... HBGames.org (rmxp.org, for the unenlightened) has more scripts... and they have Seph and teh SDK... How can we even begin to compare? ..:V

(Remind me to actually, you know, check when the last post was before posting again... :^_^': )

Two things. I only know one "scripting Legend", and that is Blizzard. I came here because of him, and stay here because of him. I have NO honest clue who SephirothSpawn or SDK are. I don't even know what SDK stands for. Seph may be the "Scripting Archangel", or whatever the RM community calls him, but I have no clue who he is, so his title really isn't that amazing if I don't know who he is.

Secondly, I stopped using RMRK, RMXP.org and all those other sites after I joined Chaos Project.
RMRK was actually my first RM Community Site, and I liked it there, but I completely stopped going there after Chaos Project was born.
All in all, you can't compare this site to any other RM Community, no matter how many "Leet Scripters" there are.
I've been absent from this site for nearly a year due to real life issues, but guess what? I came back and everyone remembers me and treats me like a long lost friend, even though I didn't do anything "epic" for this site. So you can kind of say we're a big family, unlike all the other RM sites who just have members join going "HALP ME ON MY PROJECT OR I'M GTFO'ING".

(OK, I'll admit, the smiley WAS freaking hard to seeyes,  it  was (although I forgot how to make the smiley even show up correctly...) )

This site is the best one out there. Yes, I periodically will go and check other sites to see if there's something interesting there, but nothing quite matches what's here. The most interesting thing I've seen on .org this year was a scripting contest they had. Not interesting enough to bother signing up for, but that was the most interesting thing.

Aside from a few "legend" characters, like SS, nobody there has much of anything for eachother in comparison to here. Aside from a few elite people, the rest of the users take back-burner. I also went offline for an extended period of time here. And when I showed up again, a couple people seemed to actually care about the fact that I was back. Me, some freaking nobody. Seldom does a site have a sense of community that remotely approaches this.

Definitely. Ever since its new forum relocation two years ago, CP has always remained a nice comfortable home. :3

And a lot of these scripts are some of the best original content ever; seems like a labyrinth of other things when looking at HBGames or RRR. But I shouldn't bash them; if I stayed there for a while I'm sure I'll grow to like those communities too.  :faceless:

Whee, old topics. \o/ Let's see what's new about the Database now!

Hm... how about two new types?

Blizz-ABS Add-ons
RMX-OS Add-ons

Since those two are getting big with the number of add-ons, maybe they could have a separate type so that people can find add-ons available to the systems quickly?

That doesn't sound like a bad idea, but then it's not so much of a generic category anymore.

SephirothSpawn is a talented scripter, but most of his scripts require the damned Standard Deveploment Kit. It messes with allmost every known script that doesn´t use it as a base or something. A word of advice: Stay away from it!

I just counted again.

241 RMXP scripts
19 RMVX scripts

In 7 months, that's 89 new XP scripts... and 3 new VX scripts :P

I mean, I definitely prefer XP, but VX does have its occasional uses, doesn't it? Why is it so unpopular?
Title: Re: Script database
Post by: Blizzard on May 16, 2010, 08:54:44 am
Too many limitations in comparison to XP that aren't justified by the few additional features that XP did not have. From XP to VX, the actually went one step back.

That's true, the mapping complexity and event commands were both cut down on, and the RTP overall looked much worse (except for the battlers). I guess some people like RGSS2, but since I can barely use any form of Ruby and this site has tons of XP scripts, it doesn't really matter to me or other people who aren't scripters.

I think I counted wrong the last time because the current result is:

248 RMXP scripts
21 RMVX scripts

I think the previous result was 211. I probably multipled 30 by 8 instead of 7. xD
Title: Re: Script database
Post by: Blizzard on March 12, 2011, 05:47:02 am
*double posts*

279 RMXP scripts
21 RMVX scripts

We have now 300 scripts in our database! xD

If we counted each add-on of Tons (75) and Zer0 Collection (30) separately, we would have 403 scripts. xD Remember the 403 error with our old host? xD Lots of xD there. xD
