Title: mode 07 script
Post by: phillip1756 on October 18, 2009, 12:19:05 pm
hi,im looking for a mode 07 script,i've tired 2,but one constantly repeats itself so like if you put and event and then carry on walking then you see that event again, also the other one i tried, you have to put trees, walls and other verticle things as events or it draws them flat,so basicaly im looking for a mode 7 script that doesn't do any of that stuff

A mode 7 script is very complex. It's not an easy request. And a lot of mode 7 scripts have a lot of lag. So, either you use MGCaladtogel's mode 7, which I hear is actually usable, or don't use mode 7 at all.

Mode 7 is -not- 3D. It's mode 7.

I hereby quote Blizz in all his awesomeness :P

Quote from: Blizzard in topic " Scripts that aren't possible and why"Mode 7 (7/10)

- Reason:
A few implementations so far were successful, but due to heavy lag and high bug factor mostly unusable. The only useable implementation would be a complete change of RMXP's "Tilemap class".
- What is needed to create this:
A complete rewrite of the Tilemap class and a change of sprite handling.
- Does an implementation already exist?
Yes, there are 2, one is pretty good.
- Have I ever attempted doing this?
Yes, I have tried to decrease the lag in mewsterus' Mode 7 script and failed. The implementation was not suited for improvement.
- Will I ever attempt doing this? (again eventually)
No.

It's not very complex, it's just not easy to make. I also suggest MGCaladtogel's Mode 7. So far the one with least lag if you keep your maps small.
