Title: What's up everyone?
Post by: Dragaard on November 15, 2009, 12:50:57 am
Hey guys, name's Dragaard, and I've recently gotten into the RPG maker thing. I use RMXP specifically, and I am of course working on a game right now. I'm actually playing around with some custom scripts right now, like BlizzABS and XAS, kind of on the fence as for which one is best for my specific needs. I'm not exaclty new to the coding aspect of RMXP, and I plan to make a cool looking game loaded with action and comedy. Needless to say I'll be around here more often these days, and who knows? Maybe I'll contribute with a few custom sprites or something.

Welcome!

Definitely use Blizz-ABS, it's easier (especially to configure), cleaner, more advanced, and able to handle better graphics.  Plus it is infinitely easier to work with for plugins and addons.

I look forward to seeing your game!

Welcome.

Blizz-ABS can have multiple allies.
XAS only really supports one :P

technically XAS doesn't support ANY allies. Just a single player. That always made me sad :(

anyways, I hope you enjoy your stay. And when deciding between the two systems, just think of what you want your game to be, then examine which system works for it. While I'm not a real fan of how XAS works, it still pwns blizzABS in making a traditional zelda game (though blizzABS DOES have a zelda hud...) just because of the event based item, weapon, and skill setup. Just about everything is EASIER to set up in blizzABS, so unless you're wanting to make a zelda game that's kinda laggy, I'd go with blizzABS. (particularly if you want to have party members)
