:welcome:

If you're new to rmxp, then start with eventing and mapping and move on to scripting later. You don't need scripts to make everything btw, there's plenty of event systems that can do the same as some scripts though depeding on what you want scripts might be the better option ^_^

Anyway, have fun with it, play around with the events and mapping and you'll get the hang of the basic stuff.

Welcome.  I wouldn't say that you have to learn scripting last, but at least familiarize yourself with what RMXP can do before scripting with it.  Here's my flowchart for learning to script:
Read scripts -> understand scripts -> edit scripts -> make small scripts -> make large scripts.
Also note that the RMXP help file is very useful as a reference.

For a second there, I could swear your name was Taokaka...

:welcome:

You can make perfectly fine games without ever learning to script, using only eventing and mapping. That's how people managed with the earlier RPG Makers, which didn't have scripting. For your first few days/weeks, don't even look at scripting, unless you already know a bit.

Yeah, it seems everything is already said here. ^^;

Hi tk~

Master the RPG Maker engine already with what they provide you, then tackle on scripting. As winkio said, look at a lot of good scripts, see how they're coded and how they work, maybe read some guides, then start tweaking and working small. It'll eventually develop into something gigantic. :3
