Mine isn't really a FPS but it's GOW (gears of war) Haven't played 2 yet.
You should change the name to 'The Best Shooter' that way people can list 3rd-Person Shooters like Gears of War, Resident Evil 5, etc... :P
Mine is Modern Warfare. Not Modern Warfare 2. IMO, Modern Warfare 2 is shit right now due to campers/glitchers/commando noobs.
Like the sentry gun glitches? and the care packages?
Plus I've got commando pro so I don't get falling damage xD
Prolly
EDIT;
Campers on highrise? and...Wasteland? ...what other maps do people cam on?...Afghan and rust...almost all of them.
The only shooter I ever played a lot was Wolfenstein ET, both because it was free, and because there was a lot of diversity and creativity in the game mechanics.
If only Cave Story counts as a shooter over a platformer sort of thing. :'(
Because really, I'm not that much of a Shooter fan ! Other than the good ol' stuff in the arcades, those are fun diversions to indulge your quarters on.
Hard to decide between F.E.A.R., Bioshock, and Modern Warfare for me. But, I'll go with Modern Warfare considering it has online gaming.
Half Life 2, nuff said. Notable mods I like include Dystopia and NeoTokyo (Dystopia is more Ghost in the Shell based co-op objective based while NeoTokyo is military police style team deathmatch).

plus 1 internets for you! I played this game for years, with my dad and several of his friends. Sadly the game is dying, after being almost a decade old.
However, my 'favorite' shooter is probably Left 4 Dead 2. Closely tied with Wolfenstein Enemy Territory, though.
I'm gonna list my favorites.
Left 4 Dead 2
Bioshock 2
Moder Warfare (Call of Duty 4 not 6)
Halo 3 ODST (I really enjoyed the story and instead of being a spartan you were a human. It was cool.)

Oh no, I have no problem with that except the camping part. By Glitchers/Hackers I mean this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6gBpA9BQno0&fmt=37
And yes, this is on a public match.
Thats Bull

We all know that we're just jealous because we don't have those awesome powers/hacks.
@G_G - Honestly, im not jealous at all. That doesnt even look like it would be fun, those faggots just dont have a life so they decide to hack COD6.
Oh BTW, BORDERLANDS FTW!!!!
It would be incredibly fun to use a few of the less obvious ones against the morons who take that game way too seriously. And g_g was being sarcastic.

Winkio's right. I just forgot the :V smiley. The only hack in that video that'd seem fun to use is the Gold Desert Eagle. Thats it. I hate hackers. I'm glad I haven't ran into them yet.
Oh my bad haha :^_^':
But my lil bro has been pissing me off cuz hes started hacking :<_<:
Good thing that new patch came out to fix most of the hacking issues! :D
Metal Gear Solid series and Mass Effect series. And not because they have shooting.

Except Portal. If you'd classify Portal as a shooter, I might have to discredit you.
An original game I don't think I've seen mentioned yet? ...Aliens vs. Predator. The good one. (You know, the first.)
QuoteMetal Gear Solid series and Mass Effect series. And not because they have shooting.
That pretty much sums it up for me, as well.
QuoteExcept Portal. If you'd classify Portal as a shooter, I might have to discredit you.
Strictly speaking, it's a game that's played from the first person perspective that requires you to shoot a gun. By definition, that makes it a "first person shooter." It just focuses entirely on the puzzle aspect of gameplay over the shooting.
Portal is not a shooter. You might be carrying a gun, but you're not shooting stuff. You only shoot projectiles that create portals which isn't the same as shooting an enemy.
This is why I'm not a fan of fitting unconventional games into conventional genres.
Portals can be used offensively, and this is in fact required for certain achievements and puzzle solving methods. The level where you first encounter sentry guns is a very clear example of this: while it is technically possible to pass the level without using portals to "destroy" any of the sentry guns, it is extremely difficult.
Despite this, I wouldn't call Portal a "shooter" either... nor would I call a game like Mirror's Edge one. I'm simply saying that, in black and white terms, they both fall within the necessary criteria for being classified as FPSs.
A "correct" term for Portal would be something akin to "first person puzzle solving game," but such a genre classification does not exist in conventional terms.
Really, though, we're talking about trivial semantics here. You say tomato, I say tomato.
On topic:
Marathon. The original, Macintosh
only shooter from Bungie studios, before they hit it big. I loved its emphasis on blending fantastic storytelling with (at the time) solid gun-play. It was the first shooter I really loved.
I would simply call it a puzzle game. That's the genre that suits it most.
Unreal Tournament 1998, the first one. Classic. :3 One of the better multiplayer FPSes for people with good reflexes.

Oh man. I can't believe I didn't think of that.
I played that game for years. Fantastic. None of its sequels came close, imho.
Actually now that I think about the classics my favorite shooter/game of all time was and still is....
Call of Duty 2!!
:D
If you have a 360 go out and buy this game if you can find it. It's seriously amazing.
I don't own many shooters but i guess
Metal gear and Bioshock series!

I thought you hated bioshock xD
I'm not a big fan of shooters, but I really liked the metroid series, especially corruption. Bioshock is great, too, and Mass Effect, but that's a shooter/rpg crossover.
What, we're allowed to include Metroid games?
Does Super Metroid count? <.<

The only time it wasn't scary for me was when I had the machine gun.
Then again, it was my first horror game, and most of the effect was done by the sounds and music. I'm easily influenced by sound it seems o.O
Dead Space - love it, scares the hell outta me though. :P
btw:
N.I.C.O.L.E. I.S. D.E.A.D.
*re-activates* :D
Anyone played Fallout? 3 in particular?
Fallout 3.. played it. Not quite as good as the first 2, the style and feel didn't scale well from it's predecessors, but it's by a different developer. Though it's a decent shooter.

Hell, yes... that game was addictive.
Also the Bioshocks, and also the original contra game, if it counts :p
I'd have to go with borderline it's the only game besides fable I have bought any addons for
Team Fortress 2 and Halo.
I recently just got TF2, its awesome xD
you also recently just got redundant :P
Hmm...
1. Halo 3 / Halo 3 ODST
2. Grand Theft Auto IV
3. Battlefield (they are all really good)
I think I mentioned everything.
Mirror's Edge is by no means a shooter. Shooting is discouraged in the game. It's a free-running puzzler is the best way to describe it.
Okay, then just change the numbers :D
kk
New favorite =.=
I absolutely love Turok xD
and not a shooter but >.< (excuse meh) Tenchu Z Become the ultimate assassin!
Not really a favorite, but I recently got really into HL2 on the Orange Box(Yes, I know it's from 2007, I just recently got a chance to get it, get off my case. #__#)
HL2 is solid.
any MGS, Golden Eye was awesome, and any Duke Nukem game.... badass.
if i had this question few years back i would say: Quake 4!
But today is today and answer is : Borderlands!
Battlefield Bad Company 2
IMO, Battlefield Bad Company 2 kinda dropped the ball. The movement is so screwed up it makes it really hard to get into the game. I mean it's a solid shooter but the movement just isn't good at all. They tried to make it 'realistic' and kinda failed. No one wobbles that much running... All I ever did in that game is blow up buildings with C4 xD
Mine today would be 3 games:
COD4, COD2, and Halo 3.
Reach is good but the whole 'bloom' or the 'loadouts' idea I don't like. It's Halo and not Call of Duty which is what I liked about Halo. Now it seems kinda like a knockoff of a Halo game and I don't enjoy it as much as I did with Halo 3 but then again when you compare a game to another game your opinions get biased so yeah... It's still fun but I don't enjoy it as much as other Halo games.
Left 4 Dead, sure it's a zombie survival game more than a shooter, but the entire game you barely STOP shooting, you can easily empty 1000 rounds into crowds of zombies in between two safe houses and still have zombies left standing
Star Wars: Battlefront 1 & 2
Call of Duty 2: Big Red One
Army of Two/Army of Two the 40th Day
Left 4 Dead 2 is a really fun online game. The survival mode is absolutely chaotic. My best time is like 4:30 something.
Another one I forgot to mention was Resistance FoM 1. It wasn't really a great shooter but I loved the sniper and how you could do slow-mo before a shot and how every weapon had a different 'equipment' i guess you could say.
Like one had a grenade launcher, one had a shield, sniper had slo-mo, etc...
Revival.
Black ops is amazing. (Not JUST the zombies either)
And the most amazing and perfect game is (Da da dada da da dada da dadadadadada!)
You guys are gonna laugh ur asses off :D
Cabelas hunt (Arcade version) :D And I fawking hate it ftw ;D
