Title: Ad accounts
Post by: Blizzard on February 25, 2008, 05:50:34 am
Alright, this is the third time somebody did this and I assume it's the same person over and over. Yes, one person has already made 3 accounts and posted ad spam. Earlier or later this person will make a mistake and then I will be there to deal out a permanent ban. I can actually think who it is, but let's first see how far this person is gonna take it.

Have a nice day.

Haha, nice. The ad-man strikes again. I'm thinking of adding an IP tracker to the forum that will find out the real IP of the posters even if they use a proxy. What do you guys think about that? It's one and the same person all the time, that is obvious.

How can you find the person with the use of a Proxy? I only use a proxy when I want to break the Total Users Online...it got close, but then some users logged off at 17. Depressing.

And no, I am not the advertisement person.

I know that you aren't. :)

I know a web host that doesn't allow multiple accounts, they have a technology for that. That way you can't register another account by using a proxy. I suppose it's an advanced IP tracker, it should be possible to make one.

In the end, everytime the person posts from a proxy, I log the IP. That means the person will have less and less proxies at disposal and I will have a bigger and bigger getting list of proxy IPs which will allow me to keep people banned that seriously messed up. They won't be able to use a proxy since they will be all banned, lol!

woot!

These Ad posts are honestly getting annoying too, especially with the pure randomness that's posted.  Plus, ftlog, there are kids on this forum and we don't need that kind of shit being posted like that...

It's somebody I know from earlier and most probably somebody who wants to piss me off. Instead (s)he is helping me to gather proxy IPs. >=D
If this person did register, then (s)he's rather inactive.

And that's the right thing to do:

Report the shit, we'll with it. ;D

If I were the spam person, I'd actually put some insight on what I'm advertising...Of course, since I'm not, and it sure sounds like a Kira statement, but the ads there are so boring and predictable it's all yawning. It's not that angering for me though, I find it pleasantly amusing.

The Ad accounts are just making the forums more annoying.
They are quick and rush about it, sometimes they can't make it understandable.
And its a very very very.............. very old, so I agree thats its boring.
Zzzzzzzzz....
Zzzzzzzzz....
I don't see why they try, they won't hurt the forums by ads.

Actually no, I didn't think of him/her, but it IS possible that (s)he's our spammer.

And I was actually left confused: Was (s)he really a girl or a guy after all? O_o

@Nortos: Long story, VERY long story.

I mean this is really pathetic. This person who is repeatedly posting spam really needs to grow up. I'm not gonna bother anymore about him/her and will disable posting for guests now.

EDIT: Done.

There's a chance it's a bot. Oh wait, did I already discuss this. I'm losing my mind.

Either the guest thing is positive for us, since it promotes registration, but now we need an easy way of notification that you should hear the registration thing...or correct that problem altogether.

I think it's a problem with the host and some of the people's connection/browser/whatever since it works fine with some people and it doesn't with others.

If it's a bot, it wouldn't post repeatedly in the same few topics, but all around the forum.
