Title: Star Wars memories...
Post by: GrieverSoft on March 08, 2010, 05:26:19 am
I was wondering if anyone out there could share some of their fondest memories of the original Star Wars trilogy of films, that is:  Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.

I'll start with mine.

When I was little, about five or six, I watched Star Wars beginning to end with my mother several times over about a year.  While he didn't scare me, I was in awe the first time I saw Darth VaderTM on screen and cheered when LukeTM and LeiaTM swung across the non-OSHA compliant chasm.  I was speechless when the Death StarTM blew up and what not.

Not long after that, I was in and out of Return, and luckily I didn't pay too much attention to the plot because what came next was my favorite Star Wars moment.

When I was about nine, I finally saw Empire.  I paid attention and since this was before the Internet and fora were huge, so I wasn't spoiled by the revelation that VaderTM was in fact LukeTM's father.  It was the f*cking sh*t back then, nearly twenty years after the movie came out!  That moment made me a fan for life.  And then they released the Prequels...

Now...what are y'all's favorite Star Wars moments?

The first time I saw Chewbacca. Kinda reminded me of my Uncle Henry.
:V:?

I would have to say when I first saw the Ewoks in the last one. Best idea Stephen ever had with Star Wars. Love those little guys.
Oh and when Darth Vader said the still famous quote 'Luke... I.. am your father'. The first time I saw that I actually started crying. Thinking about how good Luke is and him trying to kill his father which turns out to be the second evilest person in the universe is just heart-crushing. I saw these when I was like 6. My Uncle was a huge Star Wars fan and still had the original movie. I didn't have the luxury of going before I was born to see them when they first came out :/
VHS ftw (:

I've seen these movies when I was... 18 ;_;
Unfortunately, I didn't do my homework, so I saw the new trilogy first. After that, the old trilogy seemed funny. Absolutely awesome, but funny.

My most favourite aspect about the original trilogy is Yoda (the muppet)! Watching his ears swing around while he babbled wise inverted sentences is just awesome >.<

Next are the droids. R2 is exploratory and adventurous, while C3PO is always whining about R2's "rash behavior", but still follows him around. ("Oh dear! I know I'm going to regret this!")

Then the main characters: Luke, Ben (Obiwan), Han, Chewbaca, Leia, Lando...

Finally: VADER!!! OMG! I feel very bad for missing the real Vader, but he was anything but scary. Every time I saw Vader, I couldn't help smiling and sometimes laughing. I just love him! I keep giving quotes to my unaware friends and they are like: "...wtf :?" lol!

PS: "Search your feelings, you know it to be true!"

Uh yes. The guy who co-directed/produced :O
Yes, George Lucas did think of most of the stuff for Star Wars as it was originally his idea. But, I believe it was Stephen's idea to add in the Ewok's on the final film. He even used kids to give them their hyper active character. Stephen didn't have very many other ideas as George didn't want to change his idea of Star Wars at all, but he got a few good ones and helped improve things. I mean they were best friends, business partners, and brother at heart. So yeah xD

Eh... for me the most memorable original Star Wars moment is all of the mistakes you can catch in them. :V:

No, probably the battle on Hoth.

But THE MOST, memorable moment for me in ANY Star Wars movie, is when Anakin becomes Darth Vader, and how. I mean, the betrayal, the murder, defeated by his master, Obi Wan Kenobi... and when Obi Wan told him, before he left him to die, "You were supposed to bring peace to the Jedi Order! You were like a brother to me!  "(Not exactly right, but you get it.), it's really deep, and sad. And after seeing the first two prequels, and how sweet Anakin was in them, it really gets to you. :'(

no he didn't.
he said "No.  I am your father."

Vader is sadly very misquoted.

QuoteThere is no escape! Don't make me destroy you. Luke, you do not yet realize your importance. You've only begun to discover your power! Join me, and I will complete your training! With our combined strength, we can end this destructive conflict, and bring order to the galaxy.

I'll never join you!

If only you knew the power of the Dark Side. Obi-Wan never told you what happened to your father.

He told me enough! He told me you killed him!

No, I am your father.

No. No! That's not true! That's impossible!

Search your feelings, you know it to be true!

NOOOOOOO! NOOOOOOOO!!!

BEST DIALOGUE EVAR XD

(Cue fat jokes)  "That's no moon, that's Porkins!!"

Hey!  Porkins fought bravely to the very end!  How many times have you attacked a moon-sized space station covered in guns with a tiny, barely noticeable weakness?!
