I want to preface this by saying that I'm working on a game that is utterly stupid and really only serves the purpose of amusing my friends, but at the same time I'm putting a fair amount of effort into making it true to classic RPG form, because the lot of us are all RPG nerds.
One of the side-quests involves recruiting a rapper, which you do by besting a series of opponents in a rap battle. A buddy of mine had recommended doing it like the 'opera' scene in FFIV, where you have to select the correct lines in the correct order to fill in the blanks, and suggested having it dependent on some kind of timer.
Now, I could probably create an event system that could handle that idea, but I wanted to put this forth to the CP community, because I feel like someone with more experience using RMXP might have a cooler/more creative idea for executing this kind of scene.
Thanks gang.
Make a timer and a message choice. That's the easiest way to do it. However, if you want something more flashy, use pictures and a nice arrow cursor, with the use of erm...what do you call those...those variable passcode things (Not the one where you enter the number, the one where you press a button and it determines a variable, that one). Sorry, I haven't been using XP in a while. If you really want fun, you can always record your own voice rapping. XD Or get the computer's Microsoft Sam to do the little gangster hip hop thing...
A Rap-ish thing in RMXP intresting.. Intresting indeed...
Sounds good to me Kirby...nice
Those are some solid ideas, Kirby.. I'll have to try some of them out.
Thanks...XD.
If you need any help with it, you can always ask me to deal with the whole event kaboodle. I can't believe something I spontaneously blotch out of my head turns to be a runaway hit...of course, I think it would be easier for you to do the latter choice though instead of the message one. I don't know for sure, but I don't believe events overlap other events (Such as when you're making a choice and then time runs out). We'll see for sure though.
