Okay, I decided to you know, attempt to download some of the games people worked hard on here. UNFORTUNATELY, sendspace, filedropper, etc. They all expire.
Why not add a FILEBIN to this site. You know, people can upload directly to the site. or something like this:
www.smwcentral.net <-- view their "submit hacks" area and see how they upload and download their files.
Please, because there are some games here I actually thought looked pretty interesting.
Because I have only 1.5 GB space and almost 1 GB is already filled up.
I see. what host is this? If I had to suggest a webhost for this site, I'd go with the previous one i had: Ipage.com which offers unlimited space.
Most people just go with justhost.com.
But anyway those are suggestions.
There's no way I'm moving. All other hosts are either slow or have a low uptime or have bad to no support at all or any combination (due to bad servers and space / bandwidth overselling). This one wasn't down for altogether 4 hours in the the last 1 year and 10 months (since I signed up), it loads faster than 99% of the sites I know and I get support within 12 hours. On top I don't really need more than 1.5 GB or 25 GB bandwidth. I'm fine where I'm at. I get all of that for $10 a month. Sure, there are sites where you get unlimited whatever for $5 a month, but they aren't even worth the $5. I'd pay this host even three times as much for the excellent service if I had to, because it's worth every penny.
Changing hosts would be a pain now, I think. Damn my late reply jinx >.<
When I have something important to upload, I use Filefront (http://www.filefront.com/). If someone is really really really really serious about making a game, they can apply for the Filefront FTP (http://www.filefront.com/developers_hosting.php) service.
i see. Well, if a hosts giving you amazing service, moving would be in vain :/
I wish these hosting sites wouldn't delete people's uploaded files -that would make things a lot better.
If anyone has an epic game, and I agree, I offer them hosting on my site. It's bluehost, which I think offers pretty good speed. And it's never been down. I think for demos of scripts and stuff, people should use either megaupload, box.net, or mediafire. Those don't expire. If it's for a quick download, sendspace is the best way to go though.
