Title: The 403 error
Post by: Blizzard on December 13, 2010, 04:22:14 am
Ok, this is getting ridiculous. Obviously something is wrong with the host. This is what we will do.

Each time you get the error, copy-paste the message and PM it to me. If PM doesn't work either, send it to my e-mail (you can get my e-mail from my profile).

I will collect a few messages and forward them to our host's support service so they can look into the matter with some actual examples. Just complaining about it won't get us nowhere, especially if we don't know how exactly to reproduce it so our host can fix it.

If possible, I would like not to switch hosts, because this host is fast and reliable. I don't want to have to switch to a potentially good host that turns out to be shit and then having to shut down the forum over and over until I find another actually good host.

Please label the subject of the email "403 error" so I can quickly search my mails to find all messages.

EDIT: There seems to be some sort of misunderstanding here. Do NOT send me screenshots of the error message or the error message itself! Send me the message you were trying to post/shout which caused the error to appear!

EDIT: I have made my decision. I will change hosts as soon as I have properly set up my new Visa card so I can pay over PayPal. This will happen somewhere during January. Please bear with this problem until then.

I would reccomend putting this somewhere more prominent. Linking to it on the home page, for instance.

I got it once when I tried putting the word sex twice into a shout. As soon as I got rid of one of them, it worked.

EDIT: I just want to add: Please label the subject of the email "403 error" so I can quickly search my mails to find all messages.

I got the error while trying to reply to a PM regarding a mapping task. (I didn't think to take a screenshot until it was too late; sorry.) At any rate, the message had nothing to do with sex, so I doubt that that's the reason behind the error. (Yeah, I know that wasn't really a likely option to begin with, but at least we can rule it out now, right?)

It once blocked me in a shout that had both nietzsche and sex in it, and I had to take BOTH out before it worked. Nice.

Hm... I've been actually having an unstable FTP connection for quite a while. And now this 403 error...

I have made my decision. I will change hosts as soon as I have properly set up my new Visa card so I can pay over PayPal. This will happen somewhere during January. Please bear with this problem until then.
