Chaos Project

I don't write music as such, it just happens. I could be learning something new on piano and then BAM! I start playing some sequence or melody which over time develops into a fledgling piece. I kind of new here and I don't know if I'm allowed to post links, so if you want a listen to some of it, to maybe help me define it, just say so and I'll put up a link. At the moment, only two of my pieces are actually on the internet but I will hopefully be recording another three or four and then uploading.

So it's been almost a year since I posted that, and a lot has changed. Mostly, the fact that I've gotten a new DAW, Ableton Live, so my music is of a much better quality now :D So I thought I'd share all of my most recent songs.

Nice stuff, man. I like the tension in the songs a lot. The acoustic is good and the melodies are pretty flowing and non-invasive.

Why thank you Blizzard. Such a change from my school's music "genius" who keeps telling me that I'm ending on the wrong note. Natural music and what sounds and feels right is the best.

I'm glad you both liked it. Do you have any genre suggestions for those pieces?  There is a piece I'm currently working on which is definitely jazz and another which will probably be techno. 8)

Okay, I came up with a new song a few days ago. I recorded straight away but I had to use someone else's laptop with Windows sound recorder and without a mic so the quality could be better. The strings are my friends... except the violinist, I think he's out to kill me, so I keep him in a box in my studio, but since I neither have a box, a studio, or an actual string section, this was totally unnessecary.

Here are the three album covers I designed cos I got bored during work experience. I wasn't bothered making a new thread so here they are.

In the shadows? Meh...mediocre, my friend, mediocre. That said, the graphics are nice. The first one is probably my favourite.

How can a name be mediocre? It's referencing two of the songs and the moods. It has a personal meaning. Would you prefer I called it Shit Panties?

That would be rather amusing. And yes, names can be mediocre. In The Shadows seems like a good start but there's nothing great about it.

(I just came up with these, so I'm not expecting them to be any good, but still, examples are examples)

- Shadows
- Hiding in the shadows
- In the background
- Waiting in the shadows/background
- Unnoticed
- Invisible
- Unseen

In The Shadows will be the name, I'm currently working on a song which will justify the title. The only alternative would be In the Corner.

I don't find Niche's name any better to be honest. Though I admit that the name could need some refinement... something to make it more personal.
My albums' name is "Glowing Darkness, Screaming Silence". Just throwing that in.

Would Shadows be better? Just Shadows. The song is about being hidden, forgotten, ignored, left in the shadows.  And no, it was not influenced by my childhood.

Eh, call it pretentious if you need to. It has a meaning to me and it's original.

It's original as fuck but sometimes people try to be deep when there's nothing there. If it means something to you then by all means be proud. But if I didn't know you personally(does internet communication count as knowing someone personally?) I would think you were a pretentious prick trying to be all, pretentious.

Seriously though, I also write poems that many people would find pretentious, too... since the only person who could understand it so far was Dio, to most other people it was pretty much random.
tl;dr I'd rather be original and meaningful and be called pretentious than chosing a name many people chose before.

How to get into a hipster's pants. I love the internet. I actually understand how you feel though. It's just a lot of people aren't legitimate about it.

Jazz on painkillers. I might call it that  when I rerecord with drums and hopefully a sax playing a riff over it.
