I have about four songs which are all in the recording stage, I want to make some cool visualisation videos for them when I upload them to youtube. Does anyone have any suggestions for a program or tool which I could use to create a visualisation which I could use in WMM.

Windows Movie Maker...

First, I'm assuming you're speaking visualizations like the ones Windows Media Player autogenerates for each track. Trippin' stuff, right?

If that's the case, then Windows Movie Maker will be too limited to be of any good, especially for something like visualizations. You might be able to get a good share of using stock video footage and images for a slideshow, but you won't be able to much beyond that. Its filters aren't really tailored for creating cool fractals and the like either.

That, at least, is if you're using Windows Movie Maker alone to create visualizations.

For tools...This might not be a very optimized solution, but I'll suggest it anyway. Have you heard of screen recorders, like Camtasia Studios, Hypercam, or FRAPS? If you have a more powerful computer, maybe you can use one of these programs to record the visualizations that Windows Media Player generates, save it as an .avi, and import it over to your Windows Movie Maker library.

A great free screen recorder program would be CamStudio. Make sure your computer can handle it -- both free space and memory. (Smooth frame rates I guess? xD)

Okay thanks, my computer will be up to the job no problem. The reason I mentioned WMM is because I don't have any other editing software. Is there anything you can recommend which is free and might be more compatible with visualisations I could design?

I don't think there's any "visualization maker" that's free...Or at least one that is able to export an .avi.

There are free visualization makers out there though...

Take a look at MilkDrop ( http://sourceforge.net/projects/milkdrop ) and Advanced Visualization Studio (That should be included by default for Winamp. Note that that program is only compatible with Winamp).

Of course, you can just use the default visualizations from Media Player and go from there.

I'm kind of Googling around with this, so maybe the possibility of there being one is true. If there is, it sure as heck neglected.

Dude, anyone can use Vuze or BitTorrent. You're not some fierce unstoppable internet pirate or anything. On another note, thank you StarrodKirby for your help.

I can but I don't anymore. I actually like the look of Sony Vegas but I'm not going to pay and nor am I going to download it illegally because I have respect for Sony as a manufacturer. I would only use BT or Vuze to download something I have no respect for. Why would I download something I have no respect for? If I like it I support the artist or producer or manufacturer.

Whatever, I'll argue with you about this tomorrow. For now, go back to finding your software.

Good point though.

I can't think of one either. The article has changed my views about Sony but it doesn't stop me thinking that my Vaio is of the highest quality. Even if it does have a really long model number. VPCEB1EOE.
