Post by: Futendra on January 07, 2011, 04:11:00 am
Hi, I made a beta demo for friends, but when they install it and try to play, they get an error that says something like RGSS(alot of numbers) and I can't find whats going wrong, Maybe I need another method for making an install file? :O.o:

Either tell them to install the RMXP RTP or do this (http://forum.chaos-project.com/index.php/topic,41.0.html).

RMXP and the RTP are installed seperately.

Maybe you didn't search hard enough. :c

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Enterbrain\RGSS\Standard

Bam, there's your location.

EDIT:

http://dl.degica.com/trial/enterbrain/xp/xp_rtp104e.exe

Bam, another location.

It varies with your operating system and install choices, but I think by default you can find your installed fonts in the C:\WINDOWS\Fonts directory.

When you open the title screen? Not your friend?

If you set a custom a font to the game, you should probably make sure you have it. :V:

If your friend just simply lacks the font, go into C:\Windows\Fonts and copy that .ttf to paste into the Desktop for sending.

I'm not using a special font, and none of my text shows

Im using the main font...

And I dunno where to find that font

Default font's Tahoma, if I recall correctly.

I think there's also another reason why text doesn't appear...It had something to do with having a pirated copy of RPG Maker...like with the RGSS____.dll or whatever. @_@ Not sure.

Use RGSS102E
It's the English version. It isn't hard to find, it can be found in any number of demos on this forum.

EDIT:
I happened to have my mediafire account open a little bit ago, so I uploaded it here (http://www.mediafire.com/?v36pc8migwcwcvk).

I never really figured it out, does that stand for the English and the Japanese version of the dll?

I can't say for sure. I believe so, though I can't remember where I heard it. I may be making stuff up again.

It's implied in the name, so I guess it probably refers to version number and the language of the program.

e.g.:
RGSS102E

RGSS Version 1.02 English

Futendra might have had RGSS100J, RGSS101J, or RGSS102J, but whatever the conflict was, getting RGSS102E is the way to go. xp

At least that's what I think. OwO

Keep a backup of RGSSxxxJ then, if you're worried about the chance if it'll crash your game.

But it probably won't, hopefully. xD

Have you ever been able to see the words on the title screen? If so, what did you do before they disappeared? You might have accidentally changed it to use a font that doesn't exist, eg. Arail instead of Arial.

The problem only happens when I try making the game not need the RTP... I followed the instructions perfectly
