hey, i'm looking for a RMX-OS script that would disply a combat level next to the player's name, and the names of other players. it would be calculated by taking the average of that player's current party's levels. i'd also like a function wherer you can make the level be displayed in different colors depending on your combat lvl (i.e. they are 3 or more higher than you, its red, 3 or more lower, its green, between those, orange, same lvl, yellow.)
im using rmx-os and blizz-abs and chat filter. thanks! :)
*bump*
Somebody make this, please! I REALLY need it :/
I have no scripting knowledge really, but as I'm thinking about it right now, it shouldn't be too challenging...?
There should be some display bitmap for the Hero's Name somewhere in the script. If we have a string next to that that's based on the hero's variable level, then things will be nice and dandy right? We can have level averages and different colors with if conditions and all that.
...Though, saying the difficulty of something, or giving a possible general theory of how to do it, coming from me would probably be close to zilch in credibility. ;a;
Oh well, good luck...!
Thanks for the input. Are you considering maybe trying to make it yourself, or are you saying that I should try it?
(Even the simplest of scripts would be hard for me, I know barely anything about scripting... :(
I don't have RMX-OS in any RPG Maker Project, nor will I ever have that soon, so me trying it would be unlikely...
I also am not really sure how to create a script from scratch. I've only been able to tweak stuff here and there. xD It usually gets me through for my own needs, which isn't asking for much, haha...
The only thing that my post here can mainly help on is to maybe encourage someone else to volunteer in doing the job and keep things a little warm and fuzzy.
okay then...i guess its time to try my first ever script/script tweak. but first, could you please tell me the ruby command(s) i could use for taking an averageof actor levels? (i.e. first set a variable to # of actors in party, set another to their added lvls, and divide this by the first 1? thanks:))
You could us a single script call:
avg = 0
$game_party.actors.each {|act|
avg += act.level }
avg /= $game_party.actors.size
$game_variables[VARIABLE_ID] = avg
Just substitute VARIABLE_ID with the the actual variable ID you want to set it to.
Ok, I found the script where username is displayed, and I need to know the following things:
1. How to make it display: username (Level 99) or whatever their level is. Would I do it like this: username + "(Level "+ avg + ")"?
2. Also, how do I declare avg for use in the script you gave me? Ik that's an extremely noobish question, but I don't know the answer :(
I don't really understand what you mean exactly by "declaring" the variable. If you are coming from a background in another computer language and are referring to having to first declare a variable, Ruby is not a strongly-typed language, you can simply set a variable to whatever you want with the given example.
I experimented a little and I kind of got it to work. The only problem is that its a little unpredictable (not sure if that is my fault or not). Here's a picture, I may or may not release this.

this looks awesome. id say try making it :)
