What scripts, systems, looks and quests should a good OMMRPG have?

If you read the whole topic all the way through, you'll see that there's actually some really good psychology behind an MMORPG. It'll probably be a good start to what you're trying to aim for.

I think one thing that makes an MMO engaging is a feeling of advancement. Not just numbers, mind you; players need to have a clear feeling of getting stronger and being better, whether it's their actual skill that has improved (which is the concept behind many popular online FPSes and strategy games,) or a visual change and ability to advance further in the game (as is the concept behind most MMORPGs.)

Make sure that there is always something new available to players when they level up; leveling up just for the sake of leveling up isn't fun, but leveling up for the ability to use that new piece of equipment or to get a new skill provides a stronger draw.

Another feature that is vital to an MMO is atmosphere. The game can't be bland; it needs to have an engaging back story and a great environment. Try to avoid being generic or vague. Come up with a good story, and make the players feel like they're a part of it.

Those are just a couple things I could think of off the top of my head. I'm sure there are other aspects as well.

My game is inspired by the protestantism and catholicism, you are in the time those 2 fight against eachother, you are one of the less that think there is no such thing as a god, only nature. You are proving your point by helping people and eventually you find out there is such thing as evil, and you are more about killing evil. Every couple of levels, you look better, eventually you are massive and look godly, there are no classes, but there are genders. The main goal is to unlock stuff, explore the world, do quests and PvP. Im still looking for a reward system for PvP, the higher level enemy player, the more money. I also want to make the game unique, not the basic skill training, quests and getting great at pvp. I want my game to be very 'costumisable' by the player. They choose their desteny and story. (please check my spelling xd)

*Customisable
*Destiny

Other than that, it's all good. Now then, which Protestant\Catholic war are you talking about? The original one around the time of the reformation or something more recent? I can tell you a fair bit about the Irish reformation related conflicts, there have been a good many of them.

RTP cleric sprites can be edited a little to make some good priests.

I can yes, but I'd advise you too give it another try yourself, since I've got a lot of work at the moment.

I think the only things necessary for a good MMO are the following; anything else is just about individualising your game from everyone elses.

- Trading, PvP, chat, and other multiplayer aspects implemented quite soon
- A large amount of items (hundreds) all with different looks and stats
- A forum, chat, or some other place where trades can be discussed
- Leaderboards or some other way of showing who's "better"

People play MMO games because they want to either socialise, or prove they're better than everyone else. The social aspect will come as you get more players. Until then you gotta have all your multiplayer bits sorted quite quickly.

My MMO is currently missing trading and it's not as active as it could be because of that. But after I introduced leaderboards, activity shot up like a rocket.

In short, sort out the basics first before worrying about aspects such as what characters to have and such.
