Title: the thing that sucks!!!
Post by: k9inpoop on March 28, 2008, 01:47:17 pm
the thing that sucks is when you have the real rpg maker xp that you payed $60 dollers for and your computer freaks out and crashs and you lost your cd for it and you can't get it back on the computer to get all your stuff.... so you have to start all over again buy the cd and get ALL your stuff back that you had already!!!! that is what i have to do... >:( >:( so now i'm stuck with the hacked version for a month and with xp home edition :(

I heard this is an issue of many people, and if you lost it, it's still got to be in your location of the house/place unless you brought it outside or let someone borrow it. So keep rummaging and you'll eventually find it. However, if you feel like you threw it away or something, then you're at a loss. However, if you want to get the full version really badly and don't want to pay, you can always step over on the illegal side--Oh, pardon me, I don't think I should say that all, it's Taboo...Well...not really. >_>

Just crack it if you must. :3

Look, if you payed, there's nothing illegal about using a cracked version.

I'm sorry for you man, hope you find peace within your inner self (corny stuff). And btw, just out of curiosity, are you planning to get VX IF you want to buy again? nvm.

I find in situations like those, it's best to buy one of those flash drive memory sticks.  I have a 256mb one to safeguard my game, just in case I have to do an emergency format.

Also, it'd be a shame to lose all the custom artwork I've put into my game as well  :-\

vgvgf (from .org) has a tool for decompressing RMXP games, which is located right here:

*LINK HAS BEEN REMOVED, ASK THE AUTHOR OF THIS POST FOR A PM IF YOU WANT IT*

Wow, that's highly illegal. O_O I removed that link and sent you it in a PM to you, k9inpoop. Making a decompressor of the RGSSAD format is HIGHLY illegal and I won't tolerate publicly posted links like this one. You know that it is illegal, shdwlink1993, please don't post it again. -_-
vgvgf will get in a lot of trouble for that. I'm actually pretty surprised that RMXP.org allowed him to host it on their site even though they ban people on any sign of illegal activity.

I would assume it is. Since it does edit the .exe when it's (Probably) against the license of RMXP. It's against the license of many other applications since editing the code when it's unreleased or unintended to be released, as it's a sign of a bootleg, hack, and whatnot.

It says even in the help file that you should "refrain from analyzing" the format. You can't make a decompressor unless you analyze it.

What do you mean you cant make a decompressor unless you analyize it?

I'm assuming analyzing would mean looking at the code that the application works at or observing how the code for it works. It's completely true, a decompressor has to deal with the code and if it doesn't know what it's up against it'll lose. So you do need to analyze and "know your enemy", per se.

In order to decrypt something that was encoded you have to know how the structure was transformed from the first form into the second. Then you have to make a counterpart which can transform the structure from the second form into the first one. It's called reverse engineering and it is illegal in this case because it allows resource theft, script theft and other nasty things. (-_-)

Oh yes...Atari's sister company, Tengen reverse engineered the security chip locked within the NES so Tengen can skip the whole licensing system. Nintendo sued them quite easily, not only for the reverse engineering, but also for the copyright infringement of Tetris. It's a really confusing system.

Reverse Engineering is illegal, folks. ;) But it is very advanced stuff. While you may be applauded, just stay away from crime. :D
