Chaos Project

We have less than a month until April first.  As the leadership of this site, we always do something to troll the rest of the forum on April Fools Day, and this year will be no different.  Start brainstorming ideas here.

For reference:
2010 - Blizz announced he was retiring.  MINDGAMES!  (he was actually serious, but nobody knew because he also went on vacation or something for a week or two)
2009 - Legend of Lexima game using Blizz-ABS.  I think I remember it ending in a rickroll or something.

It'll be hard to trump last year. Hmm... I'll be sure to keep it in the back of my mind and post if I have any brilliant ideas.

Chaos-Project shutting down?

Not due to CP, but for a more legit fake reason? XD

We should have all request forums redirect to one of those links that redirect to a google search. Each request board would search to its corresponding name.
"rmxp scripts"

"rmxp event systems"
"rmxp tutorials"

I like G_G's Idea. but I can tell you from experience that that might be a bit difficult yo do.

Simple Machines Forums allows redirects instead of boards. I don't see it being too hard.

I could just take down the site for a whole day in that case. It would look REALLY serious. :D

I'd volunteer to be "terminally ill." We could say that the reason I was gone for so long was because I was actually in the hospital - I came back because they thought I was well enough to go home, but the sickness has now come back worse than ever.

And you could change the theme to something ridiculous looking, and even propose changing the name of the site. You couldn't go too over the top, though, or it would be obvious that it's a joke. Still, I think it would be funny and fairly believable if pulled off correctly. At any rate, it's just an idea.

Yeah; be sure to update the banned accounts list to include him :P
To make things more believable, the mods could start spreading information about the two of you having disagreements on the moderator board.

One thing to keep in mind if we do go through with this is that we need to be able to put things back to normal without too much hassle; let's not do anything that would damage the website at all.

That idea is gold.

I have access to the database, I can make myself admin anytime again. In fact, I will take care of that myself. I will remove my status and put it back on when April 1st is over. I don't think ban is necessary, let's just do the de-admin thing. Start with the disagreement rumors somewhere during next week.
winkio, if you want, we can stage a small drama here and there. You know, just to make it more believable. :D I suggest we start doing it in the second half of March. Then we progressively get at each others' throats more and more often. xD

Haha, definitely, though, as I recall, there was a mild disaster with some of the filters. ('Elite Four NAMKCORs' were in all sorts of places they didn't belong.) :P We'd have to be careful to avoid that.

The good part about the word filter is that we can check whether the forum'll filter it being a whole word or not (e.g. checking it will mean having "ass" -> "butt" won't change "assassin" to "buttbuttin" ) and that it can be case insensitive.

So we can definitely insert a Blizz to have it convert to winkio, then convert Blizzard to winkio too or something. o:

Having -ard would be hard for legitimiate words that end in -ard, though that can add just into the chaos as well. xD

winkio, want the PSD of CP's logo so you can mess with it? Though, you would have to do that to all 12 color versions. ._. Maybe that's just a bit too much work.

Make one default theme based on winkio's profile palette -

And have the theme heavily adopt ChaosTrue5 (The blue theme) or ChaosViolet5 (The purple theme) (I say this because winkio used to have a purple profile too~), with only the logo being replaced with "winkio project" or something. xD

(And yes, temporarily force EVERY user, especially the non-default users, to switch to that theme :PPP)

You have the whole True and Violet themes here and the PSDs for the X theme. The colors for the other themes are simply hue changes. Each hue change is a round number.

For each board, I can override the member's theme.  I think it's the best option.

Yes. Alternatively, I could replace all themes with winkio's and disable theme selection for the day, but this is the better choice. I've tried it out and thought it wouldn't work because my theme didn't change. Probably because I am an admin, I was even still able to change the theme even though I turned off that option.

Well, we all know Blizzard's got a soft spot for nacho chips and absinthe (In fact, this plot goes farther back than most suspect, with my seduction of Blizzard at E3 a few years ago.  I was to discover Blizzard's only true weakness.)  So of course I used my devious mind and charming demeanor to lure him away from his computer long enough for you hack the root key of the website and gain access to the servers.  At that point you sent me a text message signaling me to act.  With Blizzard inebriated he wasn't in his most aware state, and I slipped some roofies into his next shot.  He was on the floor in seconds flat.

This afforded us enough time to hide him in a closet somewhere while we finished our glorious conversion.  Knowing he would escape, we removed his powers and stripped them from all of those who opposed us.

Maybe the mods could take sides? I thought this was a prominent possibility when we thought of this.  We can still do it, we just have to do it in a way that will subvert everyone's expectations. 

Idea 1 - I don't give a damn:
So we can have a whole buildup to the day, and then Friday morning, Blizz can say: I'm taking a break from the site, I don't know when I'll be back - winkio is in charge.  Then I can do one really small lame thing and be really obvious about it and everyone will be like "wow, that was lame".  Then, later in the day, all shenanigans can break loose as planned.

Idea 2 - Too fast:
Do it Saturday instead.

Idea 3 - Did I miss it:
Spread rumors about all the possible jokes we could think of (shutting down the site, ARC getting sued, etc.).  On April Fools Day, do absolutely nothing.  The expectations will kill them.

How about this, (kind of a combination of yours)

We go about as planned with some minor little things. Some will thing it is quite lame and see right through it. This will buy us a little time to come up with something truly devious that we will do Saturday after people think it is over.

No, the point is to do it on friday. Otherwise it's pointless.

I think that banning would be the best choice because if we don't get banned, our fights will spam the whole forum. We surely won't stay in just one topic. And this isn't really in our interest. If you ban us, especially because of a previous intense fight with lots of threatening on Thursday, it will seem very legit. I will start raging more and more and resort to personal insults. You should threaten me with a ban. You know, you say something like if I can't control myself, you will ban me, all rules apply to me as well, blablabla, the usual stuff. I will obviously act out something like you betraying me, backstabbing me, I made you what you are, etc. This should turn out quite controversial because I will act like the bad guy while you will actually be the bad guy. Let's do some more fighting today and tomorrow will be the big climax.

If we changed our plans, it would be obvious that we were discovered and are looking for a backup plan. Any joke we pulled would be too obvious. We already invested so much time and energy into this one. The best reaction will be if people are puzzled. While it will seem like an April Fools joke that we got banned, it will seem legit because we actually had intense fights before. When people doubt whether it's a joke or not, then we have achieved our goal.

I find it hilarious how Ryex and me pushed down his shout about guessing right about what's going on. Kudos to Ryex for the good idea, I wouldn't have thought of it. xD

you sure about that? seems like a pretty common idea. it was how we got rid of the spam posts after we decided that deleting 4 pages of spam shouts one by one wasn't worth it.

Let me finish up this thread by thanking everybody for their contribution, time and dedication. If it weren't for your active attention to censor, delete or edit posts and shouts that revealed the joke, this wouldn't have been possible. It's sad that some members were so actively trying to ruin the joke for everyone instead of playing along. A few who figured it out have played along, but the rest were just being party poopers. If you didn't have to keep managing those few members so actively, you could have invested more time into other things like NAMKCOR who made a fake list of rules to make the whole joke seem even more legit. Happy April Fools, everybody. Remember, this is a day to have fun, not to try to destroy everybody else's fun.
