Just a bunch of graphics whores in here, dissing a really great game because it might only have DX9 support. What has the world come to?
Probably because many people pay pretty much for a great computer so they want games that can use everything they have. Maybe.

You don't have to treat my like I did not know that. That is what many of the posts consist of.
They are acting like complete idiots, and it cannot be justified for reasons such as paying too much for a computer.
Get pissed at a company because they didn't make their game beautiful enough for their rigs. Pssh, please. :P
Not only that, A LOT of them, base this off of the leaked internal copy that was last worked on in January, and put on torrent sites in February. A developer's copy, leaked, 49 days before release. Filled with bugs and glitches aplenty. These guys are fucking retards.
I don't treat you like anything. I'm sorry if you understood it that way. I don't know how people with good computers think as I've never had a computer that was newer then about 6 years, and they have all been laptops, so I have no idea. That is why I wrote that.
Maybe it is good because I don't want to be one of the people who says such things. Specially about a game that everyone have talked only good things about. What I've heard at least.

Sorry, the added "maybe" made it seem as such, especially since the thread I linked to had people mention what you said a lot. :P
And yes, I have a good computer; a laptop, but couldn't give a shit about graphics. I am not like the dumb-asses at overclocked who prefer graphics over gameplay and story.
Do you care more about graphics? D:
I care about everything. Graphics isn't the main thing, but it is a part of the experience. The same with sound. But without a good story and gameplay, the game is pretty useless to buy.
Graphics are not a big part of the experience at all, though it is a part. A small one, though.
Have you seen how people flock all over MineCraft? WoW, too? Graphics aren't close to spectacular, and people love the gameplay(Though with WoW, it's more the leveling and socializing, I think). But these guys cannot lean to do just that: love the gameplay, story ect.
Really, this cannot be argued by them or anybody. But I admit, if anybody is producing anything like an N64 or PS1 quality(graphics, of course) game now-a-days, that would be a bit meh.
But these people complained about something that looks better than most games coming out this year.
"It uses DX9, the world is over. I need to get laid WHAAAAAAAAAAA."
When you say it like that, I agree. As long as the company knows how to use their tools, which they obviously does.
But story? Minecraft!? Not yet anyway lol. :D
You know what's one of the most beautiful games I've ever played?
Baten Kaitos. It came out for the Game Cube.
You know why I think it is better graphic-wise than alot of modern games? Because the people who worked on it were artists, not engine whores.
DX9 and DX10 are tools. You can do the most beautiful graphics in either, or you can make it shitty. It depends on the graphic designers / artists, not on the engine. Sure, DX has some neat new features, but they are exactly that - features. They're not necessary for making a game look beautiful.
I disagree that graphics are not part of the game experience. But graphics are not as important as other aspects of the game. I'd prefer nice graphics, of course, but if a good game doesn't really have that good graphics, I don't mind.
EDIT: Hahaha, they have 24 pages of stupidity condensed into one topic.

Never said they weren't a part, if that was directed at my post.
And lol, 24 pages of stupidity. I agree.
"HEY GAIZE, LET'S CANCEL OUR PRE-ORDERS SO THEY WILL PUT IN DX11!!!11! THAT WILL SHOW THEM THAT GRAFICS ARE WHAT MAKE A GAEM!!!"
Meanwhile, in the office of Crytek's CEO...
"Sir, they are canceling their pre-orders because they judged everything based upon that buggy and unfinished leaked copy of the game!"
"Ah, yes. And I give a fuck? By the way, which employee did that?"
...
"Where the fuck did he go? Oh, wait..."
LMAO! That scenario is so realistic, a perfect description of our reaction at Cateia if something similar happened to us. xD
Baten Kaitos FTGCW.
One of Crysis 2's selling points is that they are making a game that will make your computer cry. People feel that they cannot live up to what they promised with old technology such as DX9, they are overzealous, but it's pretty much the opposite of what Crytek said they'd do.
Crytek said DX11, and it's not done, so they're releasing an unfinished game.
They said they'll patch it in, so I don't really care if it doesn't come at release(nor do I even care to have it to begin with).
But people in the thread said that patching it in doesn't give the full effect of DX11. Well, little do those retards know, that the effect is only as much as the creators put into the patch, and I don't think Crytek will disappoint.
These people are probably those retards who believe stuff like "once it's made you can barely change it derpppp". Meh, just glad I never joined that place. Seems like a very boring and idiotic community.
:( My face when I realized chaos project didn't use dx11

At least it uses DX69.
I HATE people that puts graphics above everthing else.
I was actually talking/discussing about this with some friends a few days ago and we concluded that the new generation of kids are lazy idiots that won't even try a game, no matter how good it would be, if it doesn't show em good graphics... o.o
I miss my old NES... :knight:

I think one of the reasons that so many people are having that reaction is because Crysis 2 is the sequel to one of the most graphically intensive and best looking PC games on the market - they were expecting it to be as graphically challenging as its predecessor, except for more modern hardware.
Crysis 2 only launching with DX9? That's hilarious if true.
I always felt Crysis was graphics first and then the other stuff later.
I can understand the disappointment when it fails to deliver.
Just for that game it's more just than usually though still very silly.
*hugs*

There it is again, someone puts graphics above gameplay. Gameplay most important, graphics one of the least.
Really, I have played the leaked beta, and it is damn fun. Did I care that I had to use DX9 graphics? No. Because I am not retarded.

Hilarious? Not even.
Graphics before all else? Well, that is a very untrue statement, even for Crysis. Although it's a big selling point.

Graphics are just a part and sadly imo Graphics is what sony turned the playstation into idc wtf the game looks like aslong as I know which guy I am and what the enemies are. I like the gameplay/story tyvm D<
Taste and humor are different from person to person. I find both that Crysis 2 launches with only DX9 and that thread hilarious ^_^
I don't agree with 'graphics first' either which was the main reason why I didn't get Crysis until I could get it for like 5-10 bucks.
