I think you guys give him too little credit though xD Of all the possible things he knows, he asks a perfect combination of questions to narrow your choices down to one person. Of all the things you could possibly think of, that he can actually get one out of three is amazing to me! It's all in the questions, and yet I have a sneaking suspicion that some of the answers you people give may be misconstrued in some manner xD Human error may be to blame for his mistakes. Try again and see what happens.

Possibly. If you're ever unsure of something just put "I don't know" or whatever that middle choice is. However, don't do it too much or else he will never get it. (Hey, cut some slack, he's only a piece of javascript/code that claims to be a mind-reading genie, just here to pass the time, what's wrong with that?)
And FAX, sometimes if you just put a single answer the whole time, you get a special answer like "The smart-ass that says no" or something like that.

@Diokatsu: Man, you beat me.

One thing though. Some characters may not appear because in actuality the people who submitted character questions about them (When describing who your person is to Akinator) are saying incorrect stuff about them. You just have to set things straight, you know? XD

What's osu!? It's a rhythm game. Thought I should have a signature with a working rank. ;P It's now clickable!
Still Aqua's biggest fan (Or am I?).

It's all about narrowing things down. He uses an algorithm I believe. It's like, if you play this with your friends then try to ask the best questions for narrowing it down. What gender, what nationality, what profession, are they famous, and are they dead are all great ways to help narrow the field. You can try strategies like such if you play twenty questions with your family!

Reygekan

Are they male?
Y/N

This removes half the characters of evar from existance

Are they real?
Y/N

Another huge split, let's say 1/4 is left

Are they from an anime/ Are they a pop star?

1/5

Are they blonde?

1/10

Etc.,

Then you just keep going down the line until you've narrowed it down to one possible response. So let's say it has an array for every trait, and in each array is all the characters that have that trait. Every answer eliminates or checks off an array. Then at the end, it looks for a response that appears in every checked array that doesn't appear in any of the eliminated arrays, and you've got your character. Since they're user-submitted though, I'm wondering how it'll deal with contradicting information.

Very impressive work they did. I like this one.

What it couldn't get:

Candide

What it could:

Philip de Franco
Rorschach (Watchmen)
Commissioner Gordon
Winston Smith (but only after 40 questions)
