So I noticed something.

Nobody really ever goes to the Advertisement forum. I mean, people advertise there, sure, but nobody ever really clicks on it, or sees anything, so what's the point...?

also, on this relatively related topic.

I have no clue why, but the forum has only a small group of actives. the people here all focus on the same main areas, so other less-frequented subforums recieve... almost no access. The RolePlay forum is a prime example. I'll never forget how many times I've started an RP and gotten like 8 signups, only to have nobody be active. It's relatively depressing. You go to, say, the scripts section. I'm pretty sure Blizz ABS topic has the #1 post and viewed count. Now I lost my train of thought so I'm going to summarize my point: everyone here goes to the same places, and those unpopular areas remain void of activity. I want to see this change. we'll never be a true community until every part of the forum has active people. Sure, you can, at this moment, seperate the Frequent Spammers, from the Constant Contributers, but beyond that, there's no subcommunities. every community has it's own little subcommunities. We don't.

fugibo

So you want the other forums to randomly redirect to the roleplay forum, I extrapolate?

Surely thou jest, for wherefore shall we draw precedence to this?

Vell

nah, not jus RP forum. all the ones forgotten. mainly RP and Advertisement, that I know of. May as well throw this into SPAM: we can rarely be serious.

Starrodkirby86

We'll see how long this will last. So far, it's actually pretty constructive.

Think of it like immigration and the US. Usually certain cultures of people will live together, hence came Chinatown and Little Italy (Plus other districts that are cultural to whatever ethnicity).

I suppose you can consider it like that. It's just that this is a forum of RPG Making, not community. The main point with RPG Making forums is pretty much:

Make game
Get comments + love

or

Make resources
Profit

That doesn't allow a lot of other room to let such other hobbies flourish that much. If we implemented more community interaction or something, perhaps sub-communities would arrive.

What's osu!? It's a rhythm game. Thought I should have a signature with a working rank. ;P It's now clickable!
Still Aqua's biggest fan (Or am I?).

I am a Frequent Spammer. I agree though that the forum should become more alive and active. Although the RP section is not really for me as I prefer to Role Play in person with people rather than on a forum. I tried giving itba shot with the pokemon RP but noone was really posting in it. Hmmmm maybe i will give other ones a shot.Oh and wasn't ZTA really active also? Once i get bsck from vacatiom I may sign up for one or two rp's and maybe ZTA

lol the role play forum I would be active in it if i didn't consider it such a joke. no afence for most people the style of role play you find there is perfect. but for me (a person who the whole reason he started using the internet was because his sister got him into role play) I find it a joke. I grew up on forums where people posted three computer pages of text in a single post on average and if it was shorter than three paragraphs you were expected to apolagise for how short you post was. and where one lined could get you baned from the board if you used them too much.

my point is that people find this forum mostly because of Blizzard and then join after months of lurking because they need help with a script or RMXP in general. in other words that very few people who have a reason to join Chaos-Project would even fit in with these  "sub-communities" let along be active in them.

your hopping for too much in my opionen Ulta.

I no longer keep up with posts in the forum very well. If you have a question or comment, about my work, or in general I welcome PM's. if you make a post in one of my threads and I don't reply with in a day or two feel free to PM me and point it out to me.<br /><br />DropBox, the best free file syncing service there is.<br />

I agree that there is a massive imbalance to where people on this Forum people visit, but I think it's just great that this forum has a bunch of nice, active people in general. The scripts section is popular for a reason - well it's why I signed up in the first place anyway. It took me a while to start spamming even. D:

If it helps I'll try and do my bit (when I return properly) and mess around in your RP threads. :] Although I suck at RP. T___T

Anyways, glad you voiced this opinion (I don't think anyone else would have o_O).

Blizzard

Nobody cares about ads. The forum is just there so people don't spam the other sections with ads.

yeah, Ryex, that's true for me too(the three paragraphs thing) in most of my RPs where people are actually serious(AKA the ones NOT on this forum) they tend to be around 4-5-6 paragraphs per post. but nowhere I go I actually have decent activity on the forum/RP section.

The point of this thread is this: we have an imbalance problem. Ideas on how to fix? it's like Houshi said.

this forum has been around for over a year. I think it's time we start expanding the forum's purpose.

We have an imbalance, not a problem.
This is an RPG Maker forum, not a roleplaying forum. If more people were interested in RP, it would get its own main section and later maybe even subforums and an own category. But since this isn't the case, everything stays as it is. This is the same as requesting that I make a big deal out of Game Maker even though nobody here is using Game Maker. You are just being selfish and pissed off because nobody wants to play your RPs.

I agree with Blizz.  It sounds like a selfish little attention grab for the RP section, if not a mild tantrum.

Boards are popular because people are interested in them.
People will always go to and post in the boards that interest them.
You can't just say "alright people that's enough Scripting, come be active in RP now", it doesn't work that way.

Definition of Community
Yeah, CP fits that fine, even with sections that are inactive.

This board was started by Blizz as an RM community, it's no surprise that the big draw is the scripting section, and the RM sections.
CP is and always was an RM board, all of the general chat section is entirely superfluous.
General chat is well and good, but I joined CP back when it was on invisionfree, because it was an RM board, not because it of General Chat or forum RP or any of that.

If you're that concerned about the community being "expanded", then go to invisionfree or pro boards and start an RP Community, and ask Blizz to affiliate.

Sounds like you have the right idea going with that statement.  RP communities will have serious Role players, RM communities have serious RPG Makers.  It's not difficult to understand, is it?

Now, I like to RP every so often, but I'm an IRC role player.  I tried forums once, it was too slow for my taste.  That, and I haven't felt up to RP for a while as it stands, so you can't count on my participation any time soon.

tl;dr - would you like cheese with that whine?

I read it. I'm not whining, just saying this palce could use a bit expansion. like, not saying anything about the organization of the forum being changed, just maybe some people could try to attract some people not only interested in RPG Making. The RP forum is just an example, as well is the advertisement section.

and I'd LOVE to start a RP Board. but I was never any good at recruitment, and I can't ever seem to find ANYONE interested in RPin. but whatever, miscommunication, story of my life sort of thing, may as well close the topic.

I'm pretty sure nobody is only interested in RM, hence why the entertainment and computer boards get so much activity.

I'm really not seeing the problem here, the only boards that seem to be really underused are the RP board and the Advertisement board.  Advertisement is understandable, and perhaps people just aren't as into RP as you'd like them to be, but it's really a non-issue, and looks like a whine about how RP is inactive.
