Personally i think it is to square
Try placing random corners, and build of that.

Trust me, you actually can't in this case. ;)

Generic enemy started a fight with a generic hero

back to back scene commences with too much talking  and one liners are thrown like pokeballs

"Lets do it! I got your back man!" "*"cool one liner inserted here"

Generic enemy sends plithera of enemies to kill the two but somehow the enemies ALL get their asses handed to them.

Generic enemies rub it in.. and probably go for the main boss if she/he didn't disappear.
-----------------------------------------

With that said.. I'll have to try a bit harder on my game. Even I want to play your game.

Blizzard

If you take it that way, then you can actually describe EVERY situation like a generic this-and-that happens situation. But let's not go offtopic, we already have a topic about clichés.

You can see a boss fight between Rose and the Lord Knights here.
I messed up on the recording process so it's a bit glitchy. Watch it in fullscreen if you're really intent on seeing it closely.

Off the record.

Desperation - the first skill on the HUD does damage depending on your health.

I.E. if Rose is at full health it does 200-300
if Rose is at 1 health it'll do 500-700.

Sally

it looks very well done, i really like the 6th sense thing you have. also, its a little laggy the video. but the battle looks very awsome.

RoseSkye

It should look even better after I finish the attack/skill sprites.

Sally

is this for the babs contest? or is thi your project?

RoseSkye

My project. As I said it's not fair for me to join that contest.
Especially because I spend around five hours a day coming up with new concepts/event systems and such.

Blizzard

Caro, your tileset is glitchy.

Curses! I have to fix those errors!

For the moment, a Screeny of Soul-Reaver's new fixed tileset & Sprites:

Well, for the moment, fixed Modern World Tileset of Soul Reaver, testing the new School uniform characters. (Thus the lack of fog, NPCs & my favorite twiks)

RoseSkye

Modern rpg in rpg maker.. with RTP sprites.. blech..

Landith

What do you mean blech?!

"Soul Reaver: Nocturne Gospel" is one of the coolest games I have seen! (It uses the RTP style but not the default RTP)

I don't even see an RTP sprite in there except the grass.

The other screenshot is from her side-project game(I believe in Blizz-ABS)

You obviously haven't seen Anamei's work or SkieFortress. Those guys are on a different wavelength. Soul Reaver isn't bad but it isn't good..  Sacred Bonds?

Sacred Bonds is gold.

World Outside has an lovely ABS.

Also.. What is the deal with everyone putting birds on a map to make it "more realistic".

Hmm.. this map needs to be realistic.. BIRD!.. BUNNY!
I understand birds are part of nature but.. fuck..

When is the last time you've seen a wild rabbit walk around a domesticated area? Yeah I just went outside and BAM brown rabbit just hopping around in a circle all willy nilly. When I approached it, it completely ignored me too and didn't run and hide and if it did run it moved one step away from me everytime I approached it. Really.

Caro Ru Lushe

:^_^': SkieFortress is quite the main person who actually gives Feedbacks that makes me improve among other 5 people.

SR's first Arc is in a Modern World, after that, it's just one's typical Fantasy World. Thou, the setting's on hold. Nessiah & I gotta figure out how to put all events together ~

Landith

I like Caro's better still :P

She has higher quality sprites...

RoseSkye

Caro Ru Lushe

I would say the bunny is running away from the character, not to mention the setting fits an 'abandoned' area rather than a domestic. @__@ Thou I can't fault on that, it means I have to fix the tileset itself to give it an 'abandoned' look.

Another point: Caro does like Skie's spriting style.
