Ok I have made a game that I am very proud of.  It is called The Dark Tyranny.  I spent a month working on this game and in the process of working on this game I made a website which I update at least 3 days a week.  So here's the link to my demo.

If you hav any CONSTRUCTIVE critism, or if you can help in any way with ides, let me know.

some info about the game is gone help you have the game tested.
most peep are careful with links to .EXE with no info.

best bet is to explain a bit where the game is going over.
post some screen shots of some of the best stuff in the game.
listing up some scripts or key features also help promote your game.

if you have a complete post with all the info peep will get more interested in your game and will help test it
Atm I will pass this download because of the lack of info. if you get your post straight i will look at it again.

Good enough?

Most keyboards have a "Print Screen" key. Press that to copy the entire contents of your screen to the clipboard. Then open up Microsoft Paint, paste, crop, and upload to TinyPic.

Ok well thanks for that advice.  I am on a compaq laptop that DOESN'T have that key.  So I can do it later when I'm at the library.  Once again, thanks.

The Dark Tyranny is a very lame name.

You could just press Alt + Print SCreen to capture the window only instead of the entire screen.

As it happens, I'm also on a Compaq laptop. My Print Screen key is accessed by holding the Fn key and pressing the insert key. Yours might be something similar.

Same here. It's on my "Insert" key.

Ok I have screenshots for my game that I just got today thanks to Snagit.

Spoiler: ShowHide

This game is about a family known as the Silvermane Family, who was born into royalty.   For crimes against the family the first king, who ruled 500 years ago, threw a evil mage into a prison called The Time Chamber.  What King Silvermane did not know is that Valazar possessed the power of immortality and survived this torment.  Stories were told of the evil that the mage possessed, and the Silvermane family thought he was never to be seen again.  500 years later, Valazar, with the assistance of a lackey disguised as a royal knight, broke Valazar out of his prison. Vengeful towards what has happened, he swore to hunt down and kill any descendants of the first king.  He marched to the throne and immediately murdered King Alexander Silvermane, who unbeknown to Valazar had a son who would become King, who was named Marcus Silvermane.

Upon hearing about his father's death, Marcus vowed to avenge him.  However, his knowledge of magic and his heritage of the final Mageknight was minimal.  He seeked his father's friend, Cobertrin, in hopes of learning more about him, his family and the power within him.  This is the story of a prince who will stop at nothing to bring the man who murdered his father to justice.

Try it out and let me know what you think!  The link is on this forum but not in this post.

You should edit your first post.

Also, that title screen of yours is not new. Having a screenshot is not nececarry.

You're right it wasn't.  I only put it b/c it showed the name of the game.  And I didn't think about editing my first post with information about it.  I got excited b/c I finally had screenshots..

It sounds cool, but your screenshot of the wooden room has a floating wall. Or do you have a reason for that?

Ah, excellent.  You liked my amusing sideshow, yes?  I'm just a simple fool, my wit entertains the wise, and my wisdom fools the fools.

I wanted it to have a purpose but seeing is this is the first game I've made, I'm still kinda new with it. I had to download a massive tutorial book for starters that knocked anyone who didn't know how to make a map(like me).  Some of the stuff is not how I planned, but it still works.  That's why I'm still working on it.  I released the demo to get criticism so I can fix it if need be.  It may not be the best work in the world, but for what I had, it's the best I could do.

It would be lovely to see how the game plays and all, but unfortunately, this baby crashes the first moment you run it -- whether it be within the Editor or not.

Fortunately, I saw to it why that was the case. Since you're using some translation version of RMXP (or the Japanese version what-have-you), the game needs RGSS100J.dll. Got that downloaded, started the game up, and whoop-de-doodle.

...And the first thing I noticed. Why is Up configured to Up arrow while ASD are configured to their respective directions? It's inconsistent, personally.

You'll probably want to study up a bit on some eventing. We can easily pass through that Prologue Event if we don't press S, haha. This is where you use Autostart, which makes the event run automatically without fail...Then we can just Erase the event once we're done.

There's a lot of...hm...Newbie stuff here indeed. For instance, on your maps, there's a lot of negative space, especially outdoors. The real world isn't full of emptiness (Unless you're in like, what, purgatory? :v) now is it? It gets really dull and boring to travel throughout places in these empty environments. If you want to learn some awesome ways of mapping, look at other RPG Maker games! :) There's also the Mapping Improvement Thread in General RPG Maker Discussion. ;)

Story-wise, not bad. I'm sure you can tell a great story...However, with just some more execution skills it'll get even better...Though personally, those Harry Potter spells really drew me away from the whole atmosphere.

Just learn a bit more around this editor and you'll do fine...I can't think of anything else to say...so...yeah. Good luck.

What's osu!? It's a rhythm game. Thought I should have a signature with a working rank. ;P It's now clickable!

The harry potter spells are simply b/c I can't come up with good names for magic.  Duly noted, I will have to try.  I changed the up, down, left, right buttons b/c I figured it would be easier for the player.  I will check that thread, and that's honestly the last time I download a 2 MB map tutorial 'book' that really honestly doesn't help. Ok so I'm going to re-upload this game when I'm done editing, and I'm going to add with it the rgss100j.dll on it so it will run all the time, no problem. This game isn't close to done, I just wanted to release the demo so I could get criticism, as I did.  Now I can work on my '2nd draft' with all the criticism I've received.  Thanks a lot!
And the whole thing about the negative space what with the walls with the water floor and the walls with the volcano floor, is because I wanted to make a maze in that dungeon.

Gogogo~

And it doesn't hurt to hone your skills on a test project while working on your main one. If you want to find out how certain functions work, sometimes the best way is experimentation! I know after every project I work on I always get better in the end somehow; whether it'd be in eventing, mapping, or even scripting.
