Game suggestion?

I'm trying to find a fun new timesink, but I'm not having much luck. What I'm looking for is an open-world sandbox game, preferably with RPG elements, for the PC. My computer can handle running anything, so that's not a factor you have to consider.

Some games that are not options:
Morrowwind, Oblivion, Fallout 3 (All fun games, but I've played them to death.)
Dragon Age: Origins (Fun, but waaaaay too linear.)
Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 (Again, a bit too linear for my tastes. Plus enemies don't respawn. What's up with that?)
Any MMO. I usually don't like them much, plus they're more difficult to pirate- I mean... nothing.
Grand Theft Auto (Didn't like it, though I'll admit I didn't put much time into it. It didn't seem like there was a whole lot to do besides shoot random people and steal random cars.)
Spider-Man 2 (Don't laugh at me; I really liked this game. But I've beaten it three times now. :()
Fable (Pretty fun, but I've beaten it already.)

Also, not a necessity, but I'd like to be able to play as a girl so I can better relate to my character as I go about randomly killing helpless civilians and taking their stuff. Any suggestions?

If you haven't played fallout 1 or 2 yet, I highly recommend it. The graphics are dated but you can't get better sandbox RPGs.

Spore also comes to mind.
Bioshock
Sigma Star is a fun game for the GBA you can run on an emulator.

That's all I can think of. Could be you played all of these, I don't know many newer games.

Sofar, ive only played the sandbox games youve said.
There is Red Faction Guerrilla, but I didn't like that one...

WhiteRose

Alright. Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I guess I'll just keep an eye out and hope something entertaining pops up soon.

Blizzard

Spiderman 3. From GTA San Andreas is the bst I've played. I've heard GTA IV is even better so I think you should try. The game definitely has evolved from stealing cars and shooting people.

Saints row 2 is pretty awesome.

WhiteRose

Alright, thanks for the suggestions. Maybe I'll download GTA IV and give it another chance.

I already am. At 75.5% right now. :>

I heard Torchlight was good.

Subsonic_Noise

Red Dead Redemption if you own any console that it's released on. If not, try any of the Gothic games, or the inofficial follow-up of those I forgot the name of.
Also, fun fact: I always played a female character in Elderscrolls and Fallout. Should I be worried?

winkio

You should be worried for a lot more reasons than that.

Good enough that they are making a sequel.
Most people I know, that played Torchlight, liked it. It was nothing super-special, but it was decent for them.

American McGee's Alice (if you like horrors) and Psychonauts. Old games, but supposedly good ones. Also try the Silent Hill series if you like horrors.

Silent Hill 2 and 3 were amazing; SH3 is possibly one of my favorite games ever, and the second one was also very good. I haven't tried the first one yet, but maybe I'll give it a shot. I've never even heard of Alice - is it somewhat like Silent Hill? Psychonauts I've heard is fantastic. I'll pick up a copy if I see one floating around.

Blizzard

Alice is a horror game version of Alice in Wonderland. It's more psychotic and abstract than pure horror. My collegue says it's a great game. I already have it, but I don't have time to play it right now so I can't tell you much more.

Chaos Rings for iOS. It was quite fun IMO. It costs $13, though. :( I see that it's now $10, but that could be temporary.

Really old and great game came to mind... Heroes of Might and Magic 3
Kind of a sand-box game but with objectives you have to fulfill, you lead multiple heroes that level up and build armies and castles...
I still tend to play this game after it's been out for years.
There are multiple sequels but they don't compare.

<3 Great game. Far from a sandbox game, plus I've about played it to death. But yes, that is a great game. IV was also very good - it had a bit more of an RPG aspect in regard to your Heroes. I actually played II more than III. Good times. Maybe I'll see if I can still find my old discs lying around and play a couple games for old time's sake.

Two Worlds, although glitchy as hell (at least the Xbox 360 version), is an amazing game if you can get past the bugs and bad voice acting...
Also, if you're into FPS/Survival horror games, check out S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl...this is another amazing game...especially if you have the L.U.R.K. Mod installed

I d/l'd HoMM IV to try it out and yea it's pretty cool. I like the new features they've added. But they removed some of the good stuff and I'm not a big fan of the music and rainbow GFX. Still, I'm probably gonna be playing it for a few days, thanks.
