Today is the one year anniversary of my joining Chaos-Project, and the one year anniversary of my first ever script. I find it fitting that today I am officially announcing my "retirement" from RMXP (Blizz is right, it "retirement" sounds so much cooler).

I imagine this is not much of a surprise since my scripting activity has been absent lately. I plan on staying around CP as much as I do now, doing what I can to help with the occasional flame-baiting.

This does not mean that I will never do anything ever again with scripts. I do plan on maintaining my own scripts and fixing a few lingering bugs that need fixed in some of them, though I cannot say exactly when. I will still offer support and help on them as well.

Its been a great learning experience the past year, and I am grateful for CP and everyone in the community for how great you all have been.
I am done scripting for RMXP. I will likely not offer support for even my own scripts anymore, but feel free to ask on the forum, there are plenty of other talented scripters that can help you.

Well then, it's been one heck of a year, right?  :naughty:

I hope this moment in Ruby has actually been applicable in many other situations, and I have my kudos to you and your hard efforts.

Now go make some lulzy posts and be a great community member. <3

What's osu!? It's a rhythm game. Thought I should have a signature with a working rank. ;P It's now clickable!
Still Aqua's biggest fan (Or am I?).

winkio

Cool, have fun doing stuff that is fun :D

AliveDrive

So does this mean you're moving on to bigger and better things?

Well congratulations and enjoy your retirement!

The permanent solution for your problem would be to stop hanging out with stupid people.

I should have stopped using RMXP by now, working with it for more than 2 years now. Yet something still draws me back to the easiness of being able to create an RPG. I want to be able to focus on more important projects yet I always find myself making silly things in RMXP. :fail:

WhiteRose

Congratulations, F0. You've made a generous contribution through your scripts not only to Chaos Project, but to the entire RMXP community. Enjoy your retirement. :)

stripe103

Is it just me, or does every good scripter in the RMXP world seem to retire now?

ForeverZer0

@stripe
Its just that RMXP has been around for some time now, and it's potential has pretty much been reached. Honestly, there isn't really a whole lot more that can be done (IMOA). Sure there can be variations of existing systems, but it is getting pretty hard to even think of something to script that hasn't been done multiple times before. Given, no two scripts will be exactly the same and they will all be unique, but most of the fun in scripting is writing things that havn't been done before and are totally original.

Anyways, thank all you for your comments, I appreciate it.  ;)

Once a certain level of ability is reached it's only a matter of time before they realize that RMXP, while quaint and endearing, is NOT their full potential.

Sadly, all things beautiful must come to an end, so that we may truly recognize they're beauty. (that one's for you F0 <3)

Apparently you're beauty, F0. Congratulations - I guess it comes with the retirement. :V:

@AliveDrive: Just poking a little good-mannered fun; no offense meant, of course. I know your comment was heart-felt.

ForeverZer0

Did I ever mention how much I love when people write really small and make me have to copy and paste it so that I can read it. It is kind of fun, though. :V:

you could also just click the quote button and then press back  when your done reading.

any way, I agree with Zer0. when I first got into scripting I really didn't want to make something that had already been done to death. so when I made my CMS I made it completely original. and the next thing I did was both close to completely original and a great step up in skill. then I made the mouse window API which is the first public system of it's kind and also a lot of skill. I havnt really made a script since. after that I branched out into other languages.

I guess you could say I'm retired too, but then I'm still working on Remexos as a scripter ect. so I don't want to say I'm retied from RMXP just yet.
I no longer keep up with posts in the forum very well. If you have a question or comment, about my work, or in general I welcome PM's. if you make a post in one of my threads and I don't reply with in a day or two feel free to PM me and point it out to me.<br /><br />DropBox, the best free file syncing service there is.<br />

I can help you out if lack of scripting ideas is the only problem ^_^
I got a bunch lying around, but I am too lazy to search for them if you don't want them.
Either way have fun with whatever you are doing now.

*hugs*

I'd say that most people simply move on. RMXP is nice for learning purposes, but at one point you either have to go to the next level or just stop. I noticed that the really talented members here continue learning outside of RMXP. F0, G_G, Ryex, winkio (the ones I can think of right now), all of them are working in C#, Python, C++ and other languages.
