Making statements and trying to pull them through as facts IS asking for opinions. And not just opinions, it's asking for UNWANTED and DIFFERENT opinions than the original statement.

Then you shouldn't have posted this topic if you knew where it would go. :P

I thought more people would talk about her music, consider she does write all of it herself. Even 4chan's /mu/ board likes her, I didn't think CP wouldn't.

Blizzard

You could have hinted that this is the direction you were going into in your first post. xD

It's just too commercial for me personally. Though it's nice that in these times at least SOMEBODY writes their own music.

Now that we have directed the thread in the proper direction, are you going to unlock it again?

Yes.

Well, I enjoy it. It's not anything super innovative or really genre defining, but it's fun, interesting for pop music, and quite dancable.

Opinions?

Subsonic_Noise

Well, it certainly isn't bad, not my kind of music, but it doesn't hurt my ears (some kinds of pop do, though).

While it's good that she writes her own songs, I think it's sad that this has to be concidered something special today... but it's a fact that most pop "artists" today are completely produced, in terms of beats and lyrics, so I respect her for writing her own lyrics (I doubt she does the beats)
And yes, it most certainly is danceable, but so are many other artists. I myself like Daft Punk for that matter.
[size4pt]I even attempted to dance to venetian snares once and miserably failed.[/size]

Diokatsu

She's classically trained, so I'm pretty sure she writes all her music, does the beats, ect.

If she does, I respect her even more. That's really unusual.

Anyways, I don't get why everybody has to hate her. I normally chose to ignore musicians I don't like and even if you do otherwise, I'd concider "hate" a pretty strong feeling for something as trivial as pop music.

Blizzard

I just don't like her, I don't hate her. xD
But I agree. It's probably the global stupification (Idiocracy anyone?). People can't recognize decent or good stuff anymore. I mean look what bullshit sells today. *lowers head in sadness* As I said, it's good to see that there at least some people that aren't puppets or artificially created by labels/media/whatever.

(jumping in for some reason)

I personally just don't like her music. I don't really know much about Lady Gaga, so nothing is putting a bias against her music for me. I don't even know what she looks like (I don't feel like google imaging her, since I don't really care :P). I try to take people's work as it is, without factoring in details about the person who made it. I find Poker Face kind of catchy, but after hearing it once the song is just...annoying. That's how most of her music is to me. Catchy, good the first time, but it gets old fast.

Though I think that if what you guys said above (her writing her lyrics and music and stuff) is true, that's pretty cool. It bothers me that most pop idols don't really do much of their work. And even though I don't like her music, I give her kudos for producing her own work.

After seeing two of my favourite musicians do a cover of a lady gaga song, I actually checked out her music, and I must say, while I still don't like it,
it's not half as bad as I rembered it to be. Or I just heard the wrong songs before.
I still must say that Pomplamoose improved that song alot.

Diokatsu

To be honest, Telephone is a really bad example of creativity. Not saying it's a really bad song, but it's quite typical sounding.

I never said I only listened to that song. It was just the song that band covered.

Landith

I actually like some of her songs.
LoveGame - Ok
Telephone - Horrible
Bad Romance - Ok
Alejandro - Awesome

To name a few.

I think they are creative, except Alejandro, for some reason every time I hear that one I think of my best friend which makes me like it.
And no, my best friend's name is not Alejandro or anything close.

Just throwing this out there...I hate Lady Gaga. Period.

Lol...
Actually, I just dislike her lifestyle. Her music is bearable. I like stuff I can move to.

Diokatsu

Understandable then.
