Okay, so I totally stole this from the shoutbox.... Everyone seems to have a favorite browser, and for different reasons... This thread IS NOT meant to turn into a full out war of browsers... Keep civil about it please  :P

I am on Opera and trying to deal with its problems it only seems to be giving me for some reason.

If those can get fixed, I've found my perfect browser.

PhoenixFire

So, I know it was somewhere in shoutbox, but... What're the problems exactly?

Quote from: Me on ShoutboxLooking back to the conversation of browsers: I wish I could say the same about Opera that Ryex says about Chrome, but that is impossible. Opera always seems to stop responding at certain points, and stops loading webpages at times(whereas I go into another browser at the same time, it loads that page). And sometimes takes a very long time to load a webpage when it IS loading it. And most of the time I am on a slow network, Opera Turbo does not work, because I apparently am not on a slow network.

As you can see, that is very inconvenient. :o

Booo. :V:

I don't use Opera Turbo at all. I think it's an unfinished feature. At work (which has a fast network) I sometimes get the message that I am on a slow network. Opera seems to take the number of pings within a specific time interval to determine the speed rather than measuring the speed of the pings. Eh. I wish somebody would make Opera Lite that has only browsing and some other vital features. IMO Opera has become too bloated with stuff. Luckily as I don't use all those features, I'm not really having any problems with it.

EDIT: IDK why you are having speed problems with Opera. It loads CP for me in less than a second at most times which is usually faster than google.com. O_o

I think its the best browser ever. Fast, simple and clean. I'm using it on all my devices where its supported. I just hate that I can't use it on my school laptop anymore... So I'm stuck with IE9 there..

@Blizzard
Not that there is any browser with less features.. Unless you make your own.

Blizzard

I've been tempted to do so. xD Sadly, if I wanted to quickly make a browser, I'd have no choice but to go with C# and hence IE's rendering engine. I'd like to avoid that.

Same reason for me. I'm still looking for alternatives to that control..
But since I'm not experienced I'm C#, its taking time..

I'd like to point out the fact that googles-chrome-still-remains-to-be-hacked.

it's been part of the competition for three years now and it still hasn't been hacked

no other browser can claim that. it IS the safest browser out there.

oh and some one hack IE8 so bad that they could of run any code they wanted to

Opera FTW! The only problem I have with it is that I can't get any extensions to work. Anyone help me with this?

tSwitch

I used Fx4 for a while, love panorama and the new interface is nice, but I was getting 20+ second cold startups and ages-long pageloads prompted me to do a side-by-side of Fx and Chrome on my rig.  So now I'm using Chrome as it starts up and loads pages much faster.

I like the individual-process-tabs thing, so that when one tab locks up it doesn't tank all of my others (it's convenient).  It also really doesn't use too much memory compared to Firefox.

Then again, everyone's computer is different.

IE is still shit though.
IE9 has the CSS capabilities of Firefox 3.6, and all of the security of a sliding screen door.

personally I like how chrome has a seamless auto update. you don't even notice when it updates, it just dose.

Fx4 dose start up considerably faster than previous versions but it still dosn't beat chrome's split second startup. I''ve grown used to how fast chrome starts up loading Fx and IE is just painful

Lol at the first comment on that site.

Quote"One hacker who was supposed to participate in the contest trying to hack Chrome did not show up. Perhaps the last minute security updates resulted in the hacker not participating in the contest."

Perhaps Google bribed the hacker to shut-up.

I wouldn't be surprised. You can't trust those mega companies, they'd do anything for a good ad.
Opera wasn't even mentioned to be participating in the contest. Why do you think that is?
Also, I hate that Chrome sends your personal data to Google if you can't connect/login on a site.

i use chrome and that's never happened to me, but that could be because i hardly update it *checks version* nope wait, it's the current version

also, if anyone notices, chrome makes a new proses for every tab you open unlike firefox or IE as far as i know, i see heeps of chrome.exe processes in task manager when IE's crashed and i'm shutting it down

as far as my favorite, it's chrome but when HTML5 is out, i won't have any cause they all will work the same, before it firefox but now youtube is metered at uni so downloading youtube vids cost again, crap

This extension I have for Opera let's me download them right now as we speak, for free, and integrates a button into every video page. I even get to pick which formats, and quality I want it in. Direct download, too. It looks like Google themselves put that as a default feature.

So, since nobody else has problems with Opera, I think you should give it a try.

Take a look at this: http://www.google.com/chrome/intl/en/privacy.html
This is one of the main reasons why I dislike Chrome and why I don't want to use it.

They must have every little detail. :naughty:

Ah, so you are using Opera Mini? Opera Mini is significantly worse than the original as far as I have noticed. ._. I still prefer it over Safari on my iPod Touch, though. IDK, Safari on iOS is just kinda ruggish. ._.

I use both. Opera Mobile(I am actually using that) runs great, Opera on PC messes up.

Although, I hate the way Opera Mobile renders Google.
