i was wodnering if anyone can make this script, not just for me, but for proboly every person using RMXP

as you can tell by the name of the thread, the script i want minics chnaging disks, here's a little mor detail

when you reach a point in the game, you use a call script to load the .exe of another game file (for insteds, disk2/game.exe) which has the next part to your game

when you chnage games, all the switchs, items, varibles and your heros development is carried over when you switch games (using a temp file maybe, who knows)

that's really it, 2 things, switching game and saving all the game data, you won't have to worry about trying to stop the title screen, i already have a script for that, if someone makes this script for me, i'll go ahead and make a demo of how you can use the scripts and a prosess to make it so that you start the next disk wihtout seeing the title screen and to sent you back to disk one if you try and start a new game in another disk, all credit for that demo will go to the one who made the script

if you need any more info just ask

Blizzard

Didn't we discuss something like this at old CP already? I still believe it's pointless unless you really have a 700MB+ game. Actually let's rather say 4.5GB+ because CDs are rarely used nowadays anyway. Can't remember when I saw a CD the last time. >.<

Actually, CDs are still sort of popular in America  :-\

Blizzard

They are still popular, but people simply use DVDs more and more as the price is almost the same for a CD-R and a DVD-/+R.

Yeah, but I only have a CD-RW/DVD-R drive. No DVD writing for me, so I'm stuck trying to find big enough CDs to burn my Linux .iso's to.

i think you misunderstand, when i say disk, i don't mean as in an RPG with is over 700MB, i mean a game with up to the maximun limit of maps you can have in RPG Maker XP (i think it 999), when you reach that limit, you can't continue on your game, so this script will allow you to change the next game and continue on, so in the end you can have an RPG spanning over 40 hosue with over 1800 maps, get what i'm saying, this has nothing to do with a game going over 700MB

k9inpoop

tjat idea whould be cool to do!!!! 8)

GAX

Holy shit on a fucking sandwich!

How the hell do you make a game that big (I shouldn't be talking CF is gonna be massive, but STILL)...

Rule 2: ShowHide
Quote from: Rule No.2Keep your signatures at reasonable size. The pictures in your signature may altogether be no more than 200kB and take up an area of 1600px2. That means 2 pictures of 400x200 are fine, one picture of 800x200 is fine and so on. Also your pictures height must not exceed 200 pixels, width can be as big as you want as long as your pictures match the other criteria. Every signature not matching this criteria is a subject of the moderator team to remove and leave this rule as message in your signature.

insurence, sure, it may not be possible to make a game that needs more than 999 maps however, when i was making Black Core, before i remade it, it was up to about 450 maps and i wasn't half way, and i was still working on 2 world maps, there was to be a third world map

also, there's the armagedon stage of every RPG, if you don't know what that is, Final Fantasy VII Disk 3, perfect example of an armagedon stage, the world faces it's last moments as it reaches it's doom and all you have left to do in the story is fight the final boss(es), but you have some thigns you can do before then, like get the ultimate weapons, final limits and other things that can help you beat the game, as i get closer and sloer to the 999 limit, i start thinking that i may not be able to have the final stage i want

Blizzard

Actually, if I'm not wrong, you can easily make a script that allows having more than 999 maps.
In case you don't like it, there's been a script for "multi-disk" games on rmxp.org once. You might wanna try your luck there.

you know how to make it or where it is, like to keep my options open

Calintz

It would be neat to do, but pointless as said. Adding a nice little pic would help make it look more professional too!! I think it'd be neat.

Blizzard

Actually forget the thing with the maps. It would be bothersome. You'd have to make a script that changes the teleport commands, map IDs and then rename all filess and so on. You'd have to redo that each time you compile your game. Better use a Change-Disk script.

i've looked around on .org, the only chnage disk script i could find would be something like how Legend of Dragoon works, if your on disk 4 and you want to go back to like the Black Castle, you go there, try and enter the place but you need to have disk one running, so does anyone think they can code it?

Calintz

How come you're dead set on having one??

that mean that i can do a game of 4.5 gb and still work in a dvd?

Blizzard

Yes. And not just 4.5GB, it will even shrink in size after you compile and compress it. :)

Only a high sized game, will be highly customized. The Lost Element project (I think thats what its called) team said the game will be higher than 5GB. So, for this type of game it will take you years of time to complete it, alone.

Blizzard

Well, if you use an mp3 soundtrack on 128kbps, you will get in size very quickly. CP Demo would be over 100MB if I had used mp3s if I'm not wrong.

MP3 does increase the size of the game, but it will a rare chance that someone will play a game that is over 100MB because of its MP3 soundtracks.
