These are quotes from a thread at RMRK, the only people who aren't acting like idiots seem to be G_G and F0. Also, clicking the "quote from" links take you to an error page, so save yourself some time.

Isn't this against Roph's no RM downloads rule? Not trying to spoil the fun or anything, just sayin'. :*

Good for the rule.

Just let me point out if I see people posting links to pirated games/software, then that is a plain moronic rule Roph set up.

Who are you, and how did you get in here?

Quote from: Tuggernuts on June 28, 2011, 11:17:58 pm
Hi! I'm Tuggernuts, and I clicked on the "register" link, filled out the required info, and then posted in this topic.

Sounds simple enough, right?

You have two posts. You're not supposed to be in here.

Because this is an RPG Maker site, it isn't really allowed to post pirated copies of RPG Maker Programs...anything else is perfectly fine. I don't think anything bad will happen to game_guy, after all, these are portable versions of the game for on the fly making.

The bolded text: Yes. That makes sense. RPG Maker is of such a high quality, God forbid we post pirated copies of it, but pirated copies of everything else is fine.

If you can't afford it don't get it, and things always feel more precious when you spend your money on it too.

Quote from: Professor Holkeye on June 28, 2011, 11:29:45 pm
I'm going to ban you soon.

Quote from: Tuggernuts on June 28, 2011, 11:32:30 pm
Okay, ban me. Just pointing out how this makes no sense at all. ;)

Also, if I am not supposed to post in this board, why not set a post limit? It's really not hard at all.

Quote from: DarkCodeZero on June 28, 2011, 11:43:35 pm
We don't say no to pirated anything except the program the site is about. Yeah, it may not make much sense, but who cares?

Quote from: Tuggernuts on June 28, 2011, 11:46:45 pm
Oh, I don't care. It's just very dumb.

Here's a hypothetical:
If someone posted a link for something like the Unreal Engine 3(not UDK, the real deal), you would allow it? I expect to lol at this answer. :P

Quote from: ForeverZero on June 29, 2011, 12:17:16 am
This is the very reason I didn't release any pre-cracked versions. This seems to be a gray area for some reason, and I'm sure most people know how to use the keygen.

Yes, but we're not a UE3 site. You're missing the point, but it doesn't matter. We've been here for over 5 years. You've been here less than 5 days.

Quote from: Tuggernuts on June 29, 2011, 12:42:45 am
lol, I'm sorry, but if you're an RPG Maker website, and you support piracy, it'd only make sense to encourage the piracy of RM.

You guys are just hypocritical, really. It makes no sense to support fucking with sales of other companies, but protecting RPG Maker like it is some sacred deity just because you put "RPG Maker" in the name of the site. And it does not matter if I've been here less than five days, I know hypocrisy when I see it.

See? I knew I'd lol from that response. :3

True dat! I guess I made more people mad then I helped. Oh well. =\

Are you going to do anything here but complain? If not, let me know now so I can just ban you for trolling and get it over with.

I personally could care less, but I really don't see the exact "logic" in it either.  Most sites either prohibit piracy, or they don't, they really don't make distinctions between software in a "steal anything you want, just not this" type of way.

Either way, it doesn't matter, and the staff has the right to enforce any rule they want.  That is a logical response. "We've been here longer" is not. One plus one does not equal four because I'm older and said so.

ForeverZer0

When I said we should leave that out of the shoutbox, I didn't mean make a topic about it...
I am done scripting for RMXP. I will likely not offer support for even my own scripts anymore, but feel free to ask on the forum, there are plenty of other talented scripters that can help you.

I saw that message after I made this.

Plus, this is no different then when I see people bash on other sites, like many do here. It's just another site, so I should be able to point out flaws if i see fit. :3

winkio

It's not illegal, we just don't really want to hear bitching about other sites.  It's not like there's anything we can do to fix other sites' problems.

When I saw this thread, I first thought that I had to lock it because of potential flaming. But after reading it, I'll leave it here.
I agree that this kind of behavior is hypocritical. Even though they have every right to make and enforce any rule they seem fit, piracy is piracy. You're either against it or you don't care. Posting any kind of pirated software is equally as illegal as posting an RMXP crack.
