Steve Jobs (1955 - 2011)

Steven Paul Jobs, co-founder, chairman and former chief executive of Apple Inc., passed away Wednesday, October 5th, 2011. While I hate most of Apple's products and the limitations they have on them, I am deeply sad that such a genius man died. Poor man didn't even live to 60. Cause of death is still unknown.

Apple's board said in a statement that Jobs died "peacefully surrounded by his family," but did not give a cause of death, although he suffered from pancreatic neuroendocrine cancer for years.

This actually saddens me a lot.

Despite not always being an avid fan of Apple products, I always admired Steve Jobs.

When he was on stage speaking for his keynotes, he came off as such a kind, happy, and peaceful person. Man, my heart goes out to his family.

This is what I think.

ya I'll have to agree on those points. I've always felt that Apple was an exemplary example of quality products. but IMHO they have an abysmally limiting customer experience.

that aside Steve Jobs was an example of what a great man and CEO should be. his passing will be felt.

I was never really a fan of Steve myself.  For being labeled as a visionary, he had an extraordinary gift for missing the big picture.  I was greatly disappointed by how the Apple vs. Microsoft competition turned from providing a better more competitive product into a fully marketing based approach.  It will be interesting to see what new products Apple comes out with in his absence.

I'm somewhere between winkio and the rest here. While he may have missed the picture, he did change the world big time. In the end, he was probably just trying to do the best he knew how. May his soul rest in peace.

Even if he did miss that omnious "big pictures", alot of the innovation his company, and therefore him, took part of lays in the sum of many small details which enhance the experience tenfold. Everyone who ever used a mac product (it's most obvious on the computers though) knows what I am talking about.
That being said, I produced all my music entirely on Apple products. Without Steve Jobs, god knows where the audio industry would be.
So, may he rest in peace. Cancer is a terrible thing.

EDIT: Actually forget what I said. There's no way in hell I am entering yet another pro-Mac vs. anti-Mac discussion because some people are so insecure about their Macs and want to feel special that they have to try to validate themselves each time somebody says something remotely negative about Apple, Macs, Steve Jobs, iOS devices or anything related. Stop whining FFS already. He was a good man, he did a lot for the world, but he could have done so much more and done it so much better. And if any of you Mac fanboys is going to fuck up this mourning topic with your selfish whining and reasons, because you see yet another chance to act like egocentric pricks, I am going to lock it. Seriously, the last thing that I would expect from a Mac user is to turn a topic about Steve Jobs' death into yet another discussion how Mac are supposedly superior. Is nothing even remotely sacred to you?! I am disappointed in you.
