Meh, okay then. But about things being done "a million times before":

I would like anyone to find a show that has jokes that have not been overdone. I've looked, and always turn up with nothing. Just saying.

I didn't mean the jokes, I meant the "life lessons" and what the episodes are about. As I said, the jokes are rather decent.

So, like, you know where life lessons came from before any show? Life. They were never original in any show.

That's not even the point. We're not discussing life lessons but how there episodes in the show that are basically 80% the same as in other shows. The point is that two thirds of the content of the show were already in other shows. Some episodes (I can remember two of them from the top of my head) were even straight-down annoying. One was because I knew what was going to happen the whole episode and it wasn't even done in a kinda fresh way like in the other episodes. The other one was just annoying after about 10 minutes (though the ending was unexpected and funny).

Look, you shouldn't be so annoyed that I'm just not into it. I said it's a decent show, but it lacks too many things that I would recommend it further to other people.

And I am not annoyed, I honestly do not know why, in this day and age, you cannot type something a certain way without people telling you you're annoyed/mad/serious, or anything.
What I am saying is, I know there are plenty of shows you're into, that take a WHOLE lot from other shows. That is what I am saying, but I am sure you don't complain about them doing it. That is all I am saying, I am not annoyed, nor am I upset you're not into it. I am just saying, is all.

I'm not even doing that. All I am saying is that the same thing could be said for almost every show out there. How is that so hard to understand? There's a big difference between what you said, and what I did.

No problem then. From your earlier post it seemed to me that you would be getting progressively more and more angry. I'm glad that I've had the wrong impression.

But you are right, many shows do take from each other. Sometimes they do stuff in a fresh way so it doesn't seem to much of a copy and it's entertaining. The problem isn't that they take from other shows, but that you can almost predict the whole episode based on that so it becomes boring. It's like you watched the episode already so you're just waiting through the whole episode to finally finish.

Many Hollywood movies in the past years were utter crap. The reason is that people are forcing original stuff, but almost everything good has been done already. If you want to make something good, you can't avoid copying somebody else whether you do it consciously, unconsciously or even accidentally (i.e. you didn't even know this already existed). The trick is not to make something totally original, but take something familiar and good and put it into a new package, in a new and fresh way. This show did manage to do that with some episodes, but they failed with others.

I liked that each pony had their own distinctive personality and everything that goes with it. But I didn't like it that they usually forced a piece of every pony into every episode (e.g. the episode is about one specific pony and then they show how that pony handles itself with its problem interacting with the other 5). It's good that all characters get developed together, but I feel that in 3 minutes you can't show enough. I liked the episodes where there was no such thing a lot more. You can tell it's meant to be a kids' show, there's just some good depth missing. I was also disappointed that the show had episodes with each having a separate storyline instead of continuity. When I watched the first 2 episodes, I really hope that there would be continuity. :/

In any case, it's still an alright show. This is not to prove a point or something, I'm just putting together a bit more what I didn't like about it.

EDIT: Also, it can't be prejudice if I watched the show. Prejudice would mean that I don't like it for some reason, but I haven't watched it. This is an honest opinion formed by watching and trying to enjoy the show. I can't say that I wasted my time, because I enjoyed watching it. I'm just saying that I wish it had been better and maybe more fulfilled my expectations. That's your fault. I expected quite a bit, because you are such big fans. >_>

There's actually an amount of continuity, though it's hidden (YMMV on whether that's good or bad). The third episode opens up the idea of the Grand Gala, and later episodes lead up to the season finale which is -at- the Grand Gala. So there's some continuity.

Well, in response to this topic... Yet again, I have been forced to sit through a show my daughter wanted to watch, and, it's okay I suppose. I know I already said something similar, but, the show's starting to grow on me a little. I'm not yet a fan, nor do I think I will be for a while, but, it's better than other shows she has me watch. I gotta say I like Pinky Pie (for the same reasons Blizz mentioned) as well as Rainbow Dash (because of her attitude lol)

If I have kids one day, My Little Pony would definitely be a show I would approve of. I even enjoyed that little bit of slapstick violence as I grew up with cartoon like Tom & Jerry and they were hilarious. xD
