L3X looks around and spots some loose cables through the change of magnetic fields dou to shut off eletrical circuit.

Let's see what this thing does when it gets rebooted.

L3X slowly makes his way to the cables while the reader Scord still is confused about what just happened. L3X messed around with the cables a bit. Suddenly something seems to be happening...

After I'm donw with this, I'm out of here. I have to investigate the Cold Spot Phenomen and can't afford wasting any more time. I think that the Scord are up to something...

Very well, System. Tell me the purpose of this library and what the main information is that you have stored here. Also, what connection does this facility have with humans, mutants and Scord?

the Purpose of this Library is to store any information the Authors wish to store. the most information is gathered on Scord studies of human behavior, their militar tactics, human hierarchy, infighting, interests and development. how information was gathered was not stored. the connection to humans Mutants and Scord is that several humans and mutants were used in some way, not explicitly recorded, and that the Library was commanded by Scord. any other questions?

L3X turns to the nameless Scord.

This must be it... The Scord have somehow lost this database of knowledge and now they are trying to gain back control over it. I think that it would be best to destroy it. But then again, it's holding knowledge that may be useful against the Scord. If we knew what they are planning, we would have a big advantage. Alright, I know what we will do...

Mur is starring silently at L3X knowing that it involves him.

Mur, you will stay here and defend this library at all costs. There are many storage media around the place. I want you to download all vital information that you can find. When you have done that, try to download other information. If anybody comes in, shoot them. In the meantime I will try to drive back the Scord forces acting to be ignorant of this library. After you are done, contact me via WiLink. Just send this encrypted code and I will know that it's you and that you are done. Then I will come back and we will blow this place up. We will take the Scord and take him back to the Resistance's base. The data that we gather here will be very useful. Scord, please help Mur downloading the information from System.

L3X turns back to the terminal.

System, admin resumes working session. Authorize MurBot and NoNameScord with admin rights to access and download all data in the database. Admin logging out.

L3X turns back to Mur and the Scord.

L3X prepares to leave the library and kick some Scord ass.

System acknowledged L3X's orders, and made a corrective note that the term was Authors, not Administrators.

the Scord looked surprised; it was impossible to override System's predecided systems. if no Authors were alive, no Authors were alive. and that was that. except now it wasnt.

L3X was already outside though, and his sensors sensed two large groups of lifeforms, one to the west, another to the north.

the storm kicked up a bit, and something big fell over somewhere in the distance; a tree perhaps.

but either way: north, or west?

Odius:

   Odius was waken up by a loud noise, it seemed to be a large explosion. A town to the west was covered in a cloud of smoke. The only thing you could see from the town was the peek of a church and, of course, the smoke. Odius hurried to pack up his few items he had, then started to run for the town to the west.

Another Scord attack? I better hurry!

 
   He arrived at the town, it being extremely clouded by the smoke, made it hard to see what was going on. Odius heard screams from the people of the town. Being unsure of whats going on, made it hard for Odius to decide how to handle the situation. The only idea he can think of is, run around blind searching for a fight, but the only thing Odius could find was several civilians and a couple brick walls.

Damn it!

   Odius stood around looking for an answer.
   

What should I do! I cant even find my way out!

Odius:

But Odius wasn't lucky enough to get into a fight he can possibly win... He suddenly noticed an earthshaking sound coming from real close. The sound was created by a giant hovering vehicle which seemed to be trying to take off the ground. It didn't seem damaged in any way. And it wasn't damaged at all. It was actually a new Scord prototype vehicle with an AI that learns from takeoffs to provide more stable takeoffs in the future. The vehicle seems to have stabilized in low-air now and the jet engines slowly turn to turn the vehicle around as well. The vehicle is heavily armored and armed. Its crew seems to have spotted Odius. What can Odius possibly do against such a monster? The chances to win a fight directly are incredibly low and it seems that Odius will have to find another way to take it out. Leaving no time for Odius to think, it starts attacking with a gatling laser gun. After Odius gets missed a few times, the vehicle launches two missles coming toward Odius.

L3X:

Hm... the group to the north seem to be moving to the west... It's probably a good idea to go take out the west group first. When the north group arrives at the same position, I will be able to take it out without the west group interefering. Well... That goes only if the groups are Scord battle units. I should approach them carefully and try not to let them spot me.

L3X goes off to the west. After some time he arrives at the origin location of the signal his sensors picked up...

Good, I still have at least an hour until the north group arrives here. Now let's see what's going on here...

The storm makes it harder for L3X to be detected while he has absolutely no problems to check out the whole area from his small hideout close to the target location.

and he spotted some androids, clustered inside a defendable hole made of snow.

[Blizzard]

Something's not right... I detected ORGANIC LIFEFORMS, not mechanical machines...

yes he did, and he noticed a little further, defending an outer ring L3X hadn't noticed before, was people.

they appeared to be ready for a battle, they had guns out and everything ready.

the north group were turning toward this direction.

[Blizzard]

What is going on here?

L3X gets closer to the group of armed people.

Could it possibly be that those two groups will attack each other?

He amplifies the strength of his sound sensors and eavesdrops a bit to what the people are saying. Luckily he has still more than an hour to find out what's going on before the northern group gets here.

Odius:

   The two missiles from the massive ship came flying at Odius quickly. Odius' natural reaction was to punch the missile's right in the face! But... the missiles being a missile, it just exploded and sent Odius right into a wall.

Argh! Stupid missiles!

   The smoke had been cleared by the rising of the ship and the blast from the missiles, it was easier to see now. Odius, looked up, to see that he was against the church he saw earlier. He picked himself off the floor, letting out a grunt, then kicked the large doors of the church open. Another barrage of missiles came for Odius, so he quickly ran inside.

Odius:

What Odius hasn't noticed yet was that his arms were heavily wounded and bleeding like hell. No wonder, what does one expect from missle explosions? His back didn't get too much even though the smack against the wall hurt a lot. The church could provide shelter for a minute or two. If enough missles would hit the church, it would collapse. Odius has won some small bit of time to consider what he will do next. And there's still the problem with his wounded arms. If he doesn't think of something soon, he will not survive for long even if he can escape from the VS-Craft.

the androids were tossing back and forth coded words, which L3X couldn't make out the meaning of without thinking a bit first, but the humans weren't disguising their words.

one was saying

the Scord group above is supposed to be small, right? then why are we All here?

another was sighing, apparently in command; a woman.

because, Scord have a nasty way of being surprising assholes, and I don't want to be caught surprised when those damned beasts descend on us.

of course, rather than speaking english, they were speakign in a language mroe native to wherever in Europe they were or came from, but L3X's language programs made the translation easy enough.

others were talking, some frightened like puppies facing a wolf, or a kitten whose tail was already bitten off by a leapord and knew the rest of itself was going to go next.

some were boasting about how many Scord they were going to kill and a few were saying how they were sure they were going to be the last one standing and that they would never forget them all and would be sure to take none of the credit for victory, and one person was looking around.

tell the androids to scan out again for anything biological or technological with their sensors again.

another man, different from the first who spoke said something to the effect that they would tell them, and L3X knew tht the Androids' scanners would have to go right over him soon.

L3X:

They will spot me if I stay here. Hm... They are expecting the Scord to descend over them very soon. I could either join their group unnoticed by mixing under the androids or I could try something else... If the Scord are on their way here, they probably know that the group is static. If I make my way towards them and intercept them, I could do some serious damage. Of course such a large group would be too much even for me. But who said that I have to fight them from face to face? Hehehe... I think I have a plan. There's a truck with laser cannons over there. If I can manage to get a few of them, I can set them up somewhere on the path to here and program them to activate on my signal. This will make a nice trap for the Scord. Hehehe...

L3X immediately starts the execution of his plan. He manages to get unnoticed very close to the truck. He takes 12 laser cannons, 6 under each or his metallic arms.

Nobody should miss these here.

L3X also manages to get away with the weapons undetected. Finally in safe distance not to be noticed visually anymore...

I can only hope that their sensors don't have a range big enough to spot me anymore.

L3X is now on his way towards the northern group which is supposed to be a large group of Scord soldiers not knowing if the imminent area scan by the human group will reveal his location and moving direction or not.

I have to hurry. The earlier I intercept them, the more time I will have to think of another plan to make their life harder.

unfortunately, an android sneaks out of the group and heads for L3X.

L3X didn't notice the android, and had his trap set up when the other android approached him.

ANDROID! those are our Laser Cannons, what do you mean with stealing them?

well, things could get difficult.

Odius:

   Odius collapsed onto a church bench, his adrenilane had slowed down a bit and felt the pain of his arms.

AAAHHHH!!! WHY DID I PUNCH IT!!

  His arms were shredded from the explosion, but being the big man he is and having some of his arm covered in armor, he was able to start thinking on what he should do next. The VS-Craft used its missiles to blow a hole through the wall, exposing Odius. Looking at the hole in the church wall, followed the ships gatling laser, forcing Odius to run. There was a ladder leading to the roof, where the church bell is. Climbing the later seemed a lot harder than it would normally, due to the obvious fact that his arms are damaged. He reached the top, and saw the massive craft floating outside.

Huh... what does that say? VS-Craft?

   Odius saw these words on the craft, what could the VS stand for? That wasn't any of Odius' concern at the moment though, he had to find a way to defeat this ship. He had a bit more time to think, the VS-Craft had not noticed him at the top yet. But, that did not stop it from destroying the whole building.

I better get these arms wrapped up quickly!

   Odius took out a folded up blanket from the night before, and wrapped his arms in it. These were only temporary bandages, until he could be healed correctly. Odius, started to analyze the craft, looking for any way in. The odds that killing some Scord would be easier than fighting the actually ship, plus there might be something inside that may be of aid.

There has to be a way in!

L3X:

Don't worry. I'll bring them back after the Scord went right into my trap... The groups should be here in a few minutes. When I have visual confirmation, I will activate the cannons remotely and kill a bunch on them before they can reach your camp.

Odius:

Unfortunately there was no visible entrance. The VS-Craft looks heavily armored, but it doesn't seem to be too stable hovering in the air. If Odius just had something big... The VS-Craft should be in range if Odius had a big and heavy object. But where could he possibly find a big and heavy (maybe metallic) object on the top of a church bell tower?

(*hint* *hint*)

the Android understood, and assisted L3X in fine-tunin it according to the reports they recieved.

they waited.

time passed.

finally, L3X's sensors found the Scord group passing into the trap.

he activated the remote.

and the cannons fired into the shields of the Scord, the sheer force of power blasting them back into eachother, and then breaking through the shields on the second firing, doing some devestation to the Scord ranks.

but there was still plenty of them. dozens fell, but still a lot continued their marching.

they passed the laser cannons, and still a decent number still marched.

the humans and androids would have a hard time defending themselves.

our reports only spoke of a force half as strong as this. I must return!
