[XP] Title Screen...

I would like to request the creation of a new title screen script. I can't judge the difficulty rating of the construction of a script like this, but I have high hopes that it can be done...

The Request
The title screen I am currently using was created by MOG, and the title screen that I am requesting would respectively have the same design...The design of MOG's title screen allows for numerous pictures to be displayed together, creating a layering effect (much like found in photo editor's like adobe) by overlapping each other (picture sets). This scene becomes even more aesthetically pleasing to the eye, because of the panning feature implemented in the script. The screen zooms and shifts constantly which adds a nice feel...

I was hoping that someone could either reconstruct MOG's script (with permission) to add the feature I will describe momentarily, or start from scratch replicating his/her script, while adding my request. I would like to be able to have 4-5 picture "sets," with them randomly switching every 8-10 seconds or so...

After the time allotted (secs should be user selective) I would like for the current set of pictures to fade out completely (leaving the "New Game," "Continue Game," and "Exit" functions visible) in another amount of time selected by the user, and the new picture set fades in sequentially after in a time, again, selected by the user...

So, this would end up being more of like an add-on to his script...I am hoping for the best...thanks in advance to anybody willing to try.

Could you describe those "picture sets"?

Well...

I believe what the script does is display 2-3 pictures at one time, but all the while prioritizing them so you can decide which pictures go in front, or in the back...All of the pictures of course use transparent backgrounds...

I uploaded MOG's script and starrodkirby moved it into the database. You can look there if you would like to view the script 1st hand...

I was actually able to re-configure certain parts of the script my liking, but this would be far from outta my skill range...

MOG has his own way of doing things...

But seriously, the code is SUPER messy and there are too many rather useless config options. It's rather specific. I mean, all those options still result in the same scene but with different movement speeds, in the end, it's the same.

You know, I can work on a new script and make it exactly as you want it to be. I can give this a try, but in the beginning, it'll be nowhere near as animated as the Mog title scene. Does that work for you Cal?

PS: Or who knows, I might teach you the basics of sprite handling so you can do it yourself

That is all that I am asking of anyone Fantasist!! If you at least attempt to create a Custom Title Screen holding the features I will list shortly, then you would have done more than I can ask for...

If you would seriously take the time to teach me the basics of sprite handling, then I would take the time to do this myself...I would try my best.

THE REQUEST
These are the MAIN features that I would like:

• Logo Screen Fades in(at configurable time).


• ME plays when the Logo is finished fading in.


• - AND/OR Allow for the same "BGM" to start when the Logo Screen finishes loading, and play straight through and to the Title screen...


• Either allow the user to configure how long the Logo is up, or have the system wait for the ME to end, and then fade the Logo out(at a configurable time).


• - If using one BGM. please make sure the Logo display time is configuration, so that I can synchronize the "BGM" to the title...
  
• Title Screen fade in process(picture fades in at configurable #of frames).


• Allow for custom screen tone color configuration for the title pictures.


• After another configurable time, the 1st Title picture fades out, and the 2nd fades in.

And so on and so forth with the pictures changing...If you could teach me the codes for adding as many pictures as I would like to the Title's picture set, that would be great too...

If you can't pull off all of the features, well, that's fine and dandy too. All I am asking is that someone try's to help. That is enough for me =). And who knows...if you can't do something(highly doubtful) then maybe someone else wouldn't mind joining in to see this request through...

I didn't understand some of that, btu here's what I'll do:
- Logo Fade-in Time: in frames
- Logo Display Time: in frames
- Logo SE: This is played after logo fades in. Depending on the SE, change the Logo Display Time (you should do it manually though...).
- The Title BGM you set in the Database will be played after the Logo fades out.

Title Screen fade in process(picture fades in at configurable #of frames).

Done.

Do you want the tone to change with time or not?

This is easy, but I don't see how this is too helpful in the multi-layered scenario. So I'm guessing we'll be working on the title screen picture(s) and get to the multi-layering later?

Another thing. Do you want that "Press Start" thing on the title scene?

Yeah, I think that would be best. Scripting is like Spriting I think, in the sense that a script is best accomplished when taking one step at a time.

You mean when the game starts, title music starts playing. No waiting for the logo to go away, no SE plays, just the plain old title music? That's actually easier

Most likely, but the problem will be how I'll understand what you exactly want. We'll get there eventually.

Is there anyway possible that you could create a handler that will let the system "randomly" choose one of the 4main directions (8if it's possible), and have it scroll that way(I don't know if any of that is possible)??

Then, you could create another configurable time to = the amount of frames that will tell the system how long the picture should scroll before changing directions randomly again..?

If you can pull that off, and maybe add a "random" zoom (I don't know if that's possible either) anywhere between 100%-200% with a configurable time for the transition, and a configurable time for the display length of the zoom before the system picks a new % and zooms to it, and this script would be really getting on it's way!!

8 directions. So you want to use a picture which is horizontally tilable and larger than 480 pixels in height? Cause if it scrolls up or down, you wouldn't want an empty space.

All I had to do was dick with the configurable frames and voila!! Lol.

Are you still willing to work more on this, or are you taking off?
