So what syntax gets used for printing screenshots and setting them in a temporary folder for menus and what not...

Nortos

you don't need a screenshot just at def main

@sprite = Spriteset_Map.new
viewport = Viewport.new(0, 0, 640, 480)

Calintz

Oh...
Kewl, this is gonna help a lot!

If you really mean screenshots, you need the Screenshot.dll and some code to be able to take screenshots anytime you want. But if you just want the 'map-in-the-back' effect, use what Nortos posted. Spriteset_Map is basically the class which handles all the sprites on the map together. So in the menu scene, you just make a map spriteset (the graphics will be loaded just like for a map, it's not really a screenshot). The viewport comes in when you want to tint the whole thing.

I guess I'm finding time to be active after all :D

I would like both actually. That way I can manipulate the game to it's fullest...

Fantasist

Search rmxp.org, there are at least a couple of scripts (demos?) there.

Ok, thank you.
I understand what Nortos was showing. It takes the screen's picture, and then makes the viewport so nothing else can interfere with the screenshot right?

Nortos

it just takes the screen of the map when button is clicked and pauses it say something is in animation it sometimes has it so it's halfway through the animation

So how would one go about making a script that will take screenshots, automatically name them, and place them in the chosen directory like in Blizzard's game??

Blizzard, I know you use Imageshack from time to time. Did you get the idea for this script when Imageshack made the Quickshot app??

It's not my script. Gimme a couple of minutes, I'll put together what you need for it and post it here.

EDIT: I use a modified version (of course, I'm Blizzard, I have to xD). I still have the original script that calls the dll functions, but it's a bit messy so I edited my own calling script and put it in here. Here you go:

http://www.sendspace.com/file/1d1991

I have added instructions and all what you need for it. Don't forget to credit Andreas21 for it!

EDIT: I think I'll post this later in the scripts section as well. :)

Yup ^_^ Exactly what you from Blizzard ^_^
I was wondering though, does BMP save the screenshots faster? I need to test it.

EDIT:

Assumptions
- The image doesn't affect the compression speed (probably false for PNG)
- Ignoring other random factors (system's state, without running anything, is stable)

Individual values are a erratic for bmp and jpg.

This pretty much makes sense. Don't forget the time needed by a HDD to write bigger files such as BMPs. ;)

Oh, and there's a typo in the script. When you called '@screen.call', you used 'extension', instead of 'EXTENSION'.

True, it should be EXTENSION. I'll keep that in mind when I post that script later.
