Im going to write types of games. You can tell me which all you like/hate/like somewhat/hate somewhat/will play to kill time but not if i have other games etc etc

THIS IS NOT a comparison of particular games but the general vibe you get from the sub genre of RPG's.

*************************************************************
GIVE REASONS

If the above statement is ignored I will do all in my power to delevel you

1) Action RPG type 1--- ex diablo, titan quest
2) Action RPG type 2---ex Fable , Fable:TLC, Fable 2, the witcher
3) Action RPG type 3----ex Elder Scrolls
4) "True RPG" type 1---ex Laxius power, Aveyond
5) "True RPG" type 2----ex Final Fantasy, Golden Sun
6) "True RPG" type 3----ex nwn, nwn2, Planescape torment, BG 1, BG2 ******NOTE: i am not going to call this type D&D rpg or Pen and paper rpg because not all rpg's that have such mechanics are based on pen and paper*********

1) Hate it ----- all you do i kill kill kill with as if the hero/heroine can think for himself

2) Love it----- The games add an nice blend of freedom( good/evil ) and restrictions( ex only male )

3) Somewhat like it----- I like this type only because it is modable and mods are great (usually )

4)YUCK------ Though the characters can actually think everything else sucks

5)Love it----- Too many to list out

6)Love it------ This is the most tricky. Since you need a great balance to pull it off. Give too much freedom and you ruin it too less and it falls into another catagory and thus i will judge based on how many good/bad games are out there VERDICT: Love em
My fav sayings
---My god carries a hammer. Your god died nailed to a tree. Any questions?
---When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car.
---War doesn't determine who's right. War determines who's left.
---I don't suffer from insanity. I enjoy every minute of it.
---I intend to live forever, or die trying.

Blizzard

1) Boring. All you do it point, click and kill. Then it gets insanely hard as you need to run away all the time because you die after 2 hits or you need to grind for hours so that you are strong enough to die after 3 hits.

2) Sure, it's nice, but they all seem to be lacking something. It's not related to the game mechanics, but rather to the games themselves. i.e. in Fable when you were evil, you, as player, felt sorry for those virtual people suffering. In KoToR on the other side (which is a game of type 6!) it was fun to be evil.

3) Nice to play, but way too repetetive. After a few hours of playing you've seen it all. The rest is all a repetition of a repetition of repetition of a repetition.

4) People trying too hard to make type 3 games. They give you a giant world, 60-100 and more hours to play and load of other stuff that is a copy of a repetition of a repetition of a repetition of a repetition.

5) Those mostly have the best stories. Sure, they may limit the player in freedom, but you play them to see how the story ends. Of course, if the story is lame and/or the characters are shallow without any depth (*cough* ... Seymour from FFX... *cough*), not even an awesome battle system can't make it up. The game is simply boring, you don't care about the characters and you don't care to play.

6) Depends. The only games I've played here are KoToR and KoToR 2. The games were good, but I don't think that had much to do with the mechanics, but with the gameplay and atmosphere.

There, my 2 cents.

1) Haven't Played
2) Fable = Best Open-Ended (relatively speaking, of course games likes SM's Pirates and some others are much more open-ended)  game ever, even though it's waaay too linear. KotOR(2) goes here too, so yeah, <3.
3) Haven't played it.
4) Haven't played it.
5) Dude, it's FF and DQ! You can't hate them! <3
6) I haven't played any of those. However, I gather they are D&D-like, so KotOR-likes fall in to that category too, so I <3

Diokatsu

1) Never played it.
2) Never played it.
3) Elder Scrolls is too broad. Morrowind was great, replayable and had mods. One of the best games ever. Oblivion got boring because the scenery was the same over and over again and the atmosphere was not as well played.
4) Never played it.
5) Final Fantasy sucks in general. Exceptions are 1, 2, 3, 4
6) They're ok I guess. Pen and paper ones are more fun imo.

RPGs In General: I'd rather be playing in traffic. Not really. But I'll only play them if the games themselves are good. Genres don't cut it for me. Good games are good games, regardless of silly and boring classifications.

Subsonic_Noise

1) I've once played one. I stopped after 10 minutes and never played it again. I hate these RPGs.
2) Action RPG type 2---ex Fable , Fable:TLC, Fable 2, the witcher
3) I seem to be the only one who liked Oblivion. Yeah, the story wasn't really good, but I loved it to just walk through the forests^^ I like these character editors, but they somehow limit the storyline because it can't refer to the past of the hero. Does Mass Effect count to this category? It's one of my favourite RPGs.
4) Don't know the examples.
5) I loved Golden Sun, but I hate FF, because it seems kind of 'soulless' to me. But if Tales of and Baten Kaitos counts to this type of RPGs, I love it.
6) I've never played one, I think they are to unflexible and slow.

King Munkey

1) Never played
2) I only played Fable and I loved it. If only it was on PS3
3)The Elder Scrolls I loved because I love that you can go where ever you want and do what you want. Fallout 3 was good too.
4)I do not think I have played.
5)I love all FF and all the games like it. I like to play games for storyline first and gameplay second. If it doesnt have a good story I cannot play it.
6)KotOR was and is one of my all time favorite games

@SN: You do realize that Pen-and-Paper-likes are the most flexible type of game ever, right? (not including REAL games where you can do w/e you want, like dodgeball or ping pong)

nah, but i got the randomly gathered soul of a dead rabid dog demon, and this pure mouse brain, and I got t his elixir of pain, countered it with the potion of health, then got some random old geezer to tell me if i mix them right, it'll create a vile potion which'll attract a phoenix. from there, it's a simple battle away before I have the only ingredient I don't have to make you that Brew of Ressurection.
