Lol, that wasn't a rant. And I never said I didn't like it. xD
As I said, it's not creative, it's fancy. When RMXP skips frame updates, the song gets out of sync, especially when you have a shitload of nice graphics flying around AND recording a screen capture video. So I'm not entirely sure the song and the game are run in the same moment. I'd rather say the game was run separately, then the music was added into the video. I can be wrong, of course.
To be honest, most choreography today is just a copy of a copy of a copy. It's fancy, yes. But it's not that creative.
The only thing that one could call creative here are probably the poses. If he made 10 DIFFERENT sprites doing all those poses, that would be a shitload of work and probably more creative than just one pose with different heads attached. It's just like making a few sprites with a couple of frames and you're set. I mean how many frames are there? 40? 50? Even 100? One normal spriteset has 16 frames which would end up in creating a few spritesets that look almost the same. You know how spriting is. When you have only one direction and need to edit it so it looks slightly different, you can do that in 15 minutes, maybe less. When I first saw the video I thought it took him a week to make the sprites. Now that I thought about it a bit, I'd say it took him a day.
You saw the CP video, right? Do you know how long it took me to make that animated sprite of Jason? An hour, that's how long it took me. 16 frames for 1 animation and it took just an hour. When you have the original sprite, it's not really much of a problem to make it animated.
I'm just trying to say it's nice to see something like this and it definitely looks like there was effort put into it, but I wouldn't say it's that great. I have yet to see an RMXP game that is graphically stunning (which isn't all in just flashy lights and character poses, there's much more to it). Of course nobody who'd actually be ready to put this much effort into graphics would be stupid enough to work in RMXP.
EDIT: Intro looks nice, but it's mostly just scrolling panorama. I did zooming picture like in the beginning in CoSLAL, too. ._. And lol, how it lags!
Battle looks better, though. I wonder if it's all just in sprites or if it's partially scripted (i.e. like the sprite in midair; is he really in midair by script or is it just a spriteset that is offset in the graphic file itself).
Lol, what a waste of talent, better he got into professional game making. xD In any case I'd play the game. It seems to be in the 10% that's decent enough to be playable.
