Outpost

The dwarven leaders held counsel recently, discussing what they had recently found. Although they are uncertain as to exactly what the stone is, they know it's powerful. They want to harness its energies, but the only people that understand 'natural' magic are the Elven people. Years of racial tension and warfare between the two cultures make this a difficult situation. The humans are driven by greed, as they often are. They are siding with the elves because they know if the elves get it, then they will reap the benefits as well.

The tensions are getting higher, and though war has not yet been declared between any of the factions, it is undoubtedly coming. The arms race has been building, leaving the economies on both sides struggling. With trade routes both on land and in the sea slowly being taken over by equipment caravans and soldiers, towns and shops aren't getting the things that they need. Even the townspeople are being affected, which is just more fuel to the fire.

Unique take on Magic
Spoiler: ShowHide

Magic comes in two forms in this realm. There is what is known as natural or arcane magic, and artificial or chaotic magic. While both schools of magic have the same or similiar spells, arcane magic is usually a little more powerful.

Only the elven people can harness the powers of natural magic, while other races must turn to chaotic magic. Those that practice chaotic magic are generally thought of as evil people, due to the fact that a lot of damage has been caused by non-magical people trying to use chaotic magic.

Since only the elves can use natural magic, they have a huge leeway point. They help the humans out, making magical items and artifacts for them as well as protecting them with their magic, as long as the humans help them out via use of trade routes and other resources.

Features
Spoiler: ShowHide
 >> Full ABS system, bosses and critters alike
>> The world will react to your actions, while staying balanced
>> Reputation will play a large part in the story
>> Different characters will have different storylines
>> Main questline as well as numerous sidequests
>> NES-style graphics, 8bit or possibly 16bit?
>> MIDI music

The oldschool graphics and music I feel will give the game a sense of nastolgia while the gameplay and how it all works will lend towards a more 'modern' game

Ker-Bump?
Nobody has anything to say at all?

Well.. .. ..
I like the plot, but this isn't my kind of game.

I enjoy love tales, and stories of sincerity more than anything else.
I'm not big on factions and war games and what not.

Nevertheless, sounds good.

Looks interesting so far. Will the story concentrate at all on single individuals, or entirely on these factions? I'm not pushing you either way, just curious, as by the look of what you've posted so far, it would seem like the latter, which would certainly be a unique take for a RMXP project.

The backstory of the world leaves it open to a lot of possibilities in storyline it seems.

I could see a storyline of local storeowners needing help so some lowly hero starts out by helping shops get supplies but then gets tangled in the politics of the war and ends up goin' on some crazy adventure to set eveything straight.

Just a thought ^_^
