Blizz-ABS vs. XAS

Blizzard

I'm not sure if XAS is older. Blizz-ABS is around 2.5 years old now. XAS is with no doubt an interesting and capable system, but it lacks some things to make it easier to work with.

And as a few people already said, this thread turned into a "What need to be done so Blizz-ABS is better than XAS in every aspect.". xD

Well, you had to know the origins of how the thread sprouted... :^_^':

This topic was actually split from legacyblade's Recruitment Topic for his game. I was the one who split it (As you can read the first few posts) so I just had to spontaneously think of a name. Sorry if something stupid came up from that. ._.;

computerwizoo7 enjoyed being a troll and bashing Blizz-ABS on purpose since he was amused at how everyone got pissed by him and defended. That's one reason why all that childish arguing came up (I mean, one side was totally being a good debater and the other side just plain blew).

What's osu!? It's a rhythm game. Thought I should have a signature with a working rank. ;P It's now clickable!
Still Aqua's biggest fan (Or am I?).

Fantasist

And he hasn't posted here since around the competition started... :/
Do you like ambient/electronic music? Then you should promote a talented artist! Help out here. (I'm serious. Just listen to his work at least!)

Well, intelligent debate is always a good thing.
And Blizzard, I congratulate you on your patience... for a great many things :P
Since this has come down to that, I might as well submit an idea I had.
It vexes me when I go back to a map I just cleared to fing it once more choking full of monsters.
In the project I'm currently working on (I think it's my 15th epic fail so far) I use an evented time system.
Whenever an enemy is defeated, it vanishes and does not "respawn" intil the next day. It requires some switch micro-management but works for me.
Although I'm not using an ABS, that's where it would work best.
Respawn times can get as detailed as the time system is, or even different for each enemy event.
I could do that myself, except that my skills in RGSS suck. The fact that my knowledge and expertise ends at linear programming makes me feel kinda retarded :(

Blizzard

Well, it's definitely an interesting idea, but I think it's too much of a specific system. But I think I could put together a callable command to create an event on the map. You can create a respawn system like that very easily then. I might just add it in v2.21 which I will release in the next few days. Depends on how much blood there will be in my alcohol. xD

are you by any chance reffering to this? http://xkcd.com/323/  :haha:

Creating event's with a script call might be a little... long, if you know what I mean.  It would probably only be useful for creating events without any body code.

LMAO! I was thinking of how sober I will be to actually finish v2.21. xD

I also thought of the portability of common events. When creating a new event on the map, you would be able to add a common event's code. Actually I thought of full portability where you could add any number of common event codes. I can code that in a minute.

EDIT: cw7 fails. That needed to be said. Again. :D

Dude, if I was here I would so have been in on this, Lol!!

Now I am going to have to try out Blizz's ABS just for kicks and giggles, Lol.

BLIZZARD!!
You are a smart person, Lol

Blizzard

When NAMK releases his example game, you should play it. And it doesn't even use 30% of the ABSes capabilities. ;)

Yah, I can't wait to see it. I'm still working on my own blizzABS example game, which will use at least a good deal of the engine's capacity (plus have lots of graphical niceties.

Calintz

I really can't wait...
I am getting real excited. Lol
