Pride goes before a fall. xD He is so sure that he will win. He should better keep his mouth shut. If he had lost "normally", nobody would have said anything, but now he has expectations to fulfill. That kind of psychological stress usually influences people negatively which is why he signed up just now and not immediately when I posted the contest. Funny enough now he's trying to inject some confidence into himself by simple applied self-overrating. That can work "so well" that he thinks he will win without any effort. Of course both the sense of security and confidence and the belief to be winning are just delusions.

I don't know why but I'm getting the chills now. -_- I don't even have any high expectations to fulfill but I still feel insecure. I can't seem to break my mental barrier on my mapping abilities. I tried some warm up mapping and it took me 2 hours for two maps and thinking about how many more I have to make in 15 days, my spine's breaking...
...just what the hell is wrong with me...

Maybe I should team up with someone who can map well. Anyone interested can PM me and we can discuss the story and other stuff.

But if one somehow manage to believe in those delusions, they might become reality. But that needs a lot of positive spirit at an unconscious level which is normally out of our control.

What you are doing is different. You are not boasting around how great you will be. Sure, everybody is a bit insecure when it comes to the contest. But let's face it, what is there to be insecure about? Nobody's going to judge you (you, not the game xD). Nobody's going to say anything different about you even if you rank last. So what? If you didn't try, it doesnt matter anyway. If you tried... Well, who cares. At least now you know where you stand and where you have to improve. Just relax. You have no expectations to fulfill. Just have fun in the contest and the game making.

That doesn't go for cw7, obviously. He has to pay for his big mouth and I can't do anything about it whether I like it or not. I could care less about him, but annoying everybody is a bit too much. He has pretty much everybody cheering against him. That sucks. >.< If he doesn't come up with an awesome game, he will probably end up being the laughter of the entire RM community. Just like Dart. And if he does come up with an awesome game, it's very probably that nobody will say anything. Nobody will really congratulate him. He just did what he did.

No, he's not trying to drop your confidence. He's just saying that you have high expectations because of all your bragging. I mean look at the rest of us, how close is anyone watching us for this contest? Me, I could make a crappy game, and no one would care. Personally, I wouldn't care if you made a crappy one, but others are watching you because you brag so much.

And using characters from the RP thread isn't going to make the game crappy, if I understand your argument, CW7. In fact, with a bit of polishing, the story would be interesting. I just need to clean up Aveyar's character ark, add some more coherence to the plot, foreshadow some things, change a few things around, and it'll be a great game story. Once I do that, all that's left is to execute it, and hopefully make a good short game. I can't wait to try it!

This is just priceless.  I love this, this...  mix of trash talking, snide remarks, logic, and politeness.  it's so much fun.

Anyways, yes, no pressure on making the greatest game ever in 15 days.  As long as it is bearable to play (which I'm sure it will be with these ABSes), the judges will probably be fine with it.  Well, at least I will.  Just remember, make it unique!  I don't want to evaluate the same game 10 times.

actually if hes refering to the rp thread...im usinga char that hasnt even been introduced to the rp yet(k well he has but hes not a char yet)...and im coming form a compleatly diffrent direction as is every oneelse bcause they probably going to do their story form their chars pov...so it may have same char names but i garuntee the games will be completely diffrent at least mine will besides you have to consider ppl on the other forums...enuff of my rant...

You can use 2.1 . The versions in the first post are the minimum ones you can use, which means they're lowest version you can go to without disqualification. So a game using Blizz-ABS 1.99 cannot be entered, but a game using 2.1 can. You can see why of course. But I don't know if you can use 1.99 for sure, though it's not like anyone is going to use that after the big changes in 2.0. >_>;

quextion: does writing a new script that modifies the function of an RTP script count as changing an RTP script?

Essentially... Can I change something from the RTP as long as I define it in a NEW script location? (So I'm not replace the old script, just nullifying it with my new method...)
