It's the probability of avoiding damage from a physical attack. If evasion is 40, it meas that there is a 40% chance that the attack of the enemy will miss. (I can't remember if it works for physical skills as well since it does in CP and CP is known for been edited a lot by me. >.<)

Actually Blizz, you can change the effect of Evasion for each skill, with the EVA-F box. So it can work for whatever skills you want

For future reference, whenever you have your cursor in a field in the database editor, pressing F1 will display a help menu about that field.
