I'm re-writing in the default weather system to work in a totally different way. I was curious if anybody could create some simple weather effects for it. I don't mean re-colors, that can be easily done, but totally new and original effects.

Check out the effects ccoa did. She had quite a bit in her weather rewrite.

Not including them. I'm using all the effects from Zer0 Advanced Weather 1.2 as a the default effects. So anything beyond that is what I'm referring to.

Ah, I see.

One thing that I missed in the original weather system was a real blizzard. I mean the snowing just doesn't do it. I made a good blizzard effect in CP by using a heavier snow with more flakes and flying more vertically than horizontally along with a fog effect that added to it. So basically a different, heavier snow effect would definitely be something that a people will appreciate.

Lash a bit of rain in there as well. Blizzards aren't all frozen.
Level me down, I'm trying to become the anti-blizz!

Ah, excellent.  You liked my amusing sideshow, yes?  I'm just a simple fool, my wit entertains the wise, and my wisdom fools the fools.

I think you might mean more horizontally than vertically.

I saw that, too. I figured he meant the other way around.  :P

Maybe a Screen Tone change?
Like, allow for a preset tone for each weather effect, and have that tone darken and lighten over time. Not actually change colors, but simply change levels of shade. I would use this in a Blizzard to emulate the severity and overall visual obstruction. I think it would be a nice touch.

I mean ... this can be done in events with a parallel process, but still...

A Blizzard? There's only one, I hope.

It's become an awful habit to capitalize that first letter whenever I write that word, LMAO.

Thats been done in a bunch of scripts. Actual weather types is more what I'm looking for.

Alright how about this then?
I know a lot of games adore the idea of a player gaining overwhelming power. Like that energy is about to explode from within and it's hard for them to control it. The screen starts to shake and shit (yea, even Chaos Project had this effect). What if you had rocks rise through the air as a weather effect? It's seen a lot as a result of power. You could have color variances for indoors, outdoors, etc...

The Niche

Oooh, hurricanes! One made of fire, one made of leaves, one made of air, one made of water, maybe one made of rocks, etc.
So, you'd have a swirl of whatever, and if you have time, you could add a little depth to it. Maybe a decent electro-storm, with proper clouds and fork lightning, thunder effect is easy enough to add manually so don't bother with that.
These are fantasy games we're dealing with, good and bad/light and dark feature strongly in a lot of them, so weather based around them? I don't mean screen tints, I'm talking a gale of darkness or divine firestorm, something like that.

Please make a weather effect with little white/yellowish lights accending from the ground, like in many 3d fantasy games, especially in forests. xD I hope you get what I mean

ForeverZer0

Good ideas everyone. Keep'em coming.  :naughty:

The only problem with the hurricane is that the wind won't affect the tilesets you know? Trees wouldn't blow and houses wouldn't crumble, so I don't know how well that would work out. As for the forests lights!! Great idea!!

Good point. Someone ought to work on making charsets for something like that.
