Simple: A script which you can use to play chess in your game. Technically, making a chess script is complicated. But if you know how, it's not complicated at all. Furthermore, this should turn out to be a fairly short script.

Having a chess script would be awesome actually...Make sure it's totally customizable however. A script that after all, that can only be edited with difficulty is not a fun script...Nevertheless, having a Chess Script that's non-SDK would prove to be a very good...erm...addition to the party.

maybe this could be part of a bigger lrelease such as a Board Games Add-on with sopme checkers and backgammon as well

If the script allows for customized movement of pieces rather than the standard chess movements...  I'd sooooo totally want this!

I'd love to make a Chinese chess minigame.
Chinese chess is so much more fun in my opinion.

I don't know Checkers, Backgammon, Chinese Chess or Go!, sorry. ._.
Actually, the only problem is the AI, anybody can program the game rules.
I'm still not sure if I should use a fully customized script or a combination with events so you can play it on the map. But since I will give options like "Display map as background" you can easily make it seem like it's actually on the map.

and I know all those games so I'll develop some scripts to maybe release along with that. And Aqua, the games are all fundamentally different so I can't see it panning out that way but I'll work on soem other scripts to see that possiblity

Yea so I'll develop some other scripts once you make the Chess one. I want to see urs first considering my awful n00bish ness

I'll just use the minimax algorithm to make the PC determine his moves. <3 Now I only need a good heuristic to evaluate the game status.

my suggestion is that u should first make the basic structure u know, then start going out for other modes and customization like what terreaqua said about chinese checkers chess
