What is it with those blob guys?! I need to find a way to destroy them. No, wait... They cannot be destroyed... I need to make him... simply... hm... THAT'S IT! I need to make him incapable of moving! He HAS to take energy in form of food or anything else. If I can restrain him from that for long enough... Hm, this might not be the right time to think about this. First I will have to find a way to get out of here. All my external functions seem to have ceased to work. Could it have been an EMP? If yes, how comes that I am still functional as well as my memory. Hm... I will create a system backup of everything. Luckily I was enhanced with this feature to prevent the deletion of my personality and memories.

In other words, L3X can be reprogrammed, but the program will quickly fail to work as L3X will restructure his self from the last backup. Basically, that is the same that happened in the desert at the beginning of the story.

I will start the backup creator as background process so nobody notices... If I am not chained, I should have enough time for that before my potential destruction.

And truly, L3X is able to make a system backup before the blob man returns to his cell again. What does he want this time?

There he is again... Quick search for all possible known and extreme ways to immobilize target by external forces... freezing with liquid nitrogen/oxygen... putting into liquid metal... no other means found matching the criteria... I see...

the man left the room, and L3X cautiously follows him, as soon as he is outside of the room, he finds that there were no guards outside of the room.

you know, its wonderfully brilliant, you are absolutely useless right now, even that trouble some HP Mode of yours is shutdown. by the way, I wonder how your friends are? do you know there location? we don't. not anymore, wait till you see this man, its fucking brilliant what he does. and the Blob-Recovering man falls over, dead again, but he quickly stands up, the bullet hole that was just in his head gone.

the man stood up, and drew his dagger, and charged at someone, L3X couldn't see because it was down another hall.

he looked, and there was Kyle, holding his own in a fight with daggers against the Blob dude.

Ray was with him.

L3X! QUICKLY! OVER HERE!

L3X could hear footsteps from behind him, probably enemy reinforcements.

this is the enemy base.

What an irony... I was just going to say that I don't have any friends...

L3X locates the sound of Ray's voice and starts running towards it, away from the footsteps from behind which are most probably enemy reinforcements.

after L3X explained that none of his systems were working, Ray pulled out a laptop.

and so, L3X regained some of his functions, he could then use his sensors to find the enemies.

Kyle was still fighting the Blob man.

Kyle made one slipup however, and got kicked down, and the dagger was put to his throat.

will L3X save Kyle? or will he do something about the oncoming reinforcements, its not like Kyle hasn't gotten out of tough spots, but this one seems tough, no?

L3X activates his plasma gun, which is luckily functional again and shots the blob man down from Kyle.

He's trying to get me out of here, I owed him that much...

While the blob man is still in a state of realizing what happened and slowly regenerating, L3X channels all of his power into his plasma gun and shoots a hole into the wall. And not only that, there's a hole in a couple of walls behind as well. But this action fries the plasma cannon.

Quickly, this way! There are no guards this way!

just as Kyle ran through the wall, it suddenly and spontaeneously regenerated.

haha, I may not be a match for your physically, and I may be on a level of total waste, but you're functioning at less than half, even if that little hacker kid did restore some of your functions, he and the man won't last very long here. so come, you have someone to meet, Kyle will be handling his own things. the man of blobness suddenly had a fist punched through his heart. and behind him, attached to the fist, was Delia, Ray's older sister.

sorry I took so long, where's Kyle? actually, dont answer that yet, we got people to handle.

Delia did a backflip, and suddenly her foot basically crushed someone's face.

and thats when it was apparent that the hallway was crowded with the Blob-Men.

and the worst part?

every single one of them was glowing red.

uhh, L3X, whats going on here?

hehe, your both gonna die here, die here, and die now.

L3X apparently had a high luck factor.

HP Mode suddenly activated itself, and L3X was able to kick a hole large enough for him and Delia to charge through, and they had just enough time to duck, as the wall regenerated itself, and sheltered them from most of the blast.

what the hell was that?!

Don't talk, RUN!!!

L3X stays back for a moment while Delia and Ray run off before the blobs regenerate.

Last system backup restoring... HP mode enabled and active... HP mode not affected by lowered power capabilities... HP power level on standard 160%... power consumption on standard 400%-500% variating... You guys are fucked...

L3X keeps the blobs down for maybe 10 or 15 seconds, just to give Delia and Ray an advantage. Of course there is no way for L3X in such a state to keep up his HP mode, so after his final blow, he shuts it down and starts running after the two kids.

I still can't activate my Ethereal Blade or my Holo-N Shield... Another HP mode would be pointless and my plasma gun overheated and ceased functioning on a hardware level. I guess I have no time to think about this right now, we need to get out of here.

L3X can run pretty fast and catches up with the kids very soon. From moment to moment he scans the area behind to see if anybody is following. So far, the were still not able to follow the group. L3X takes the two kids under his arms and runs even faster until they catch up with Kyle. He lets the kids down again to run on their own so he can concentrate on fighting if it becomes necessary again.

however, something is strange.

Kyle, Delia, and Ray managed to get out(and btw, Ray was with Kyle the whole time, L3X was alone after the wall regenerated until Delia appeared) but, L3X wasn't sensing any enemies.

thats when something suddenly flared up, and caught his attention.

a wall blocked him off from Kyle and the others.

hehe... Lex, you made it this far *slow clapping* very, very good. you even managed to finish off that idiot. don't ask how. at any rate. that sense went away, but an entire section of the facility was destroyed, and a humanoid form walked in front of L3X.

the BioTechnologically developed Elf moved at a speed a human couldnt hope to imagine reaching, and threw a punch at L3X.

L3X got hit by the punch and flew against a still standing wall... He can quickly get on his feet again without taking too much damage, he's made out Titanus after all.

True, my Ethereal Blade and my Holo-N Shield are still not functioning and my plasma gun is as good as destroyed. A fist fight would be the only thing that would be "fair."

Hm... I actually have enough energy for HP mode, but my energy level is below 20%... If I can manage to get his attention off me for a short time, I might be able to use it to get away... But most probably this would be pointless as he will catch up with me. It looks like I can evade this fight only by pursuasion... Hm... Interesting that I want to acoid a fight... How comes...?

But would YOU call this a fair fight?! Even in a fist fight-only I am not able to fight with the maximum of my capabilities as my energy level is low, not all of my sensors are functional and my HP mode won't work. What is it that you want from me?!

a challenge, your destruction, accomplished mission. test. display of skill. difficulty.

the facility regenerated, as is the running theme with things.

then, following another running theme, things got weirder.

DEFEAT ME!

a show of emotion, and free will suddenly sprang forth from the BioE's face, but it quickly turned back to as it was before: a hardened killer.

without another word, BioE charged at L3X once again, jumping behind him, and launching a midair kick.

Now I've had enough...

L3X catches BioE's leg in midair and smacks him to the ground. He throws a heavy punch at BioE while he's still at the ground, surprised that this android still had the power to counterattack him in such a manner.

but it quickly corrected itself.

It leapt to its feet throwing a spin kick at L3X at the same time, then proceeded to jump back, and leap up unto the celing, and run along it somehow, and then 'fall' with its foot aiming for L3X.

L3X makes a backflip and avoids the attack, trying a leg sweep right after.

[Vell]

BioE fell for the leg sweep, and tripped, falling to the ground with a crash.

it jumped up, doing a kick at the same time.

strength. interesting.

the BioE launched a punch at L3X again.

L3X got hit by the surprising kick-punch combo and counters with another backflip, hitting BioE straight into his chin with both metallic feet. As soon as he is in a normal position agian and before BioE has the chance to counter, he jumps toward him to grab him and bring him to the ground.

after being forced to the ground, BioE puts both hands up.

the BioE kicked L3X off it.

you have passed.

it stood up, and faced L3X.

I was created, by humans serving the Scord. I was designed to follow the orders of the one who activates me. the signal led here. I was created to test the person I found. I found you. upon scanning of your systems, fist fight seemed the only fair choice.

BioE reached one hand up.

this facility... was designed to create Humans who could explode upon will, and some are capable of reviving. L3X... an unexplained Android that has become more. developing what could only be called Instincts. these were not originally inserted into your series, as far as their information goes, as least. their agents have tracked you, monitored you. however, there were moments when you were lost.

what was this L3X was hearing?

the BioE walked over and punched a wall, it collapsed under its strength.

I have been designed to be unbeatable. I could destroy you now. I have been programmed not to kill the humanoid figure who I see at the end of the signal. even now, you emit it, the program that awakened me.

the Biologically designed weapon shook its head.

I do not understand. I have been given all this information. what does it mean? its just a audio file, text file, and numerous other versions of files, to me. I was told to obey the Scord.

the BioElf, suddenly flashed with emotion again. the expression on its face turned to an agonized, tortured face

back to normal again.

I have responded only to my technological sections. something else... interferes. I do not understand this. I was created to serve the Scord. the Scord is my master.

the BioE began walking forward towards L3X

and yet... information I recieve... from an unknown source... is saying that... I shouldn't. upon scanning of these signals, I could not pinpoint the location of its sender. I can not even find a signal being sent to me.

the weapon looked at the floor.

at times, odd sensations grip my functions, and in some cases, proper judgment is hampered.

Bio looked up, and with a hard stare.

Android, L3X, do you understand this? my systems have not been able to discover any information, the orders from the Scord are being overridden.

the weapon was in front of L3X now.

it suddenly flashed with pain in its eyes, and leapt back.

I WONT SERVE-

the creature righted itself, and looked at L3X.

I went through a similar experience. I was told to obey my masters, the humans and to battle the Scord. The day when the Scord attacked and took control over more than 90% of NIBs on earth... I was to resist the lure. Their signal brought through to my systems. It was telling me to obey, nothing else. It was telling me to obey or face annihilation... I had problems, but in the end it was easy to resist. But suddenly something was different. I was not the same as before. I felt different somehow. I felt as if something has started. Then my metallic allies turned on me, attacking me and trying to kill me. All of that was the Scords' fault. After destroying my comrades, all I wanted was revenge. I wanted to destroy the Scord for eternity for forcing me into fighting my own kind. It is just now that I realized that this thirst for revenge was actually what meatbas call an emotion... anger... Just now when I see you struggle with your emotions I realize that I have been struggling, too... And that I, as you would say a weaker being, have resisted...

L3X sits down.

Emotions... is it that? Just that struggle? That pain? That attachment? I don't understand it...

the BioE turned around.

I do not udnerstand myself. I wil try to find out. at that time, I will find you again. I will test you again. no holding back. bye.

before L3X could say anything, BioE had burst out of his sight, scanner, and whatever other range L3X had.

And what am I gonna do now...? I know... I need to get repaired first...

L3X leaves the site by foot and is on his way back to the base. After a couple of hours, he finally reaches the base. Kyle and the others seem to lighten up when they realize L3X is still "alive".

I could use a maintenance...

L3X collapses before he can actually reach the small group waiting for him at the entrance...

L3X's systems are back on full, as his energy begins to flow throughout his body once again.
