you should learn to judge your own work.

This is still a skill to be learned, though. Constructive criticism is how it is learned.

I know.. which I tried, if you read through some of my posts in his various music threads. That was quite some time ago. :P At some point it's good, too, to see what happens if you don't criticize your work yourself. :P

Especially you Sub, I just know how much you like it to simply DEMOLISH my enthousiasm.

Yeah I feel grand, thanks. :P
Seriously though, you should learn to judge your own work. When I create someting that sucks, I know it sucks and either dismiss it or keep improving it until it doesn't suck anymore. I believe I told you this many times before, but be your own worst critic. If you don't learn it the constructive way (which I've tried many times before with you), maybe this thing with rose will get you an idea why.

One does not simply learn by demolishing enthusiasm.

Well, all other attempts have failed on you. See above. :P And yes sometimes it's necessary, especially if your ego is way too huge. Ask Niche about it. :P
What helps is to start critisism with 'You could improve this with' and not with 'This sucks'

G_G

Or maybe you should stop blaming Sub and Rose specifically for the outcome of your story. Directly pointing at them and whining because they said your story sucks isn't getting you anywhere now is it? Because thats what you've been doing the past few posts of yours. You can't go around telling people how to criticize your work. They may have done it a bit harshly, but you should be grateful the project got attention at all. Most new project threads on CP hardly catch anyone's attention. Stop whining and either scrap the project or rework it. Accept the criticism, it can only help you improve as long as you don't take it the wrong way. Like you are now.

It's canceled, what they said was basically, going on with this is pointless, so I wont.

EDIT: Can anyone tell me more precise what sucks so badly about this project? I want the upcoming project to be better, of course.

To improve it, here are some tips:

- If you still insist on using a story like you have in your first post try and make a better story because it's pretty clichéd.

If you don't know what I mean with clichéd, I mean your using the same bland story plot of many rpgs which is very cheap. A badass nemesis pops out of nowhere wanting to destroy the world/universe and only you and a bunch of strangers can do anything to beat him and save the world.

Try make your story more interesting, asking help on forums is not a bad thing either.

- Your mapping needs serious work. You put large maps but put only a random thing here and there making these maps big, empty and bland.

There are several tutorials on how you can improve your mappings so unless you hire someone to map for you, you better start seeing some tutorials.

- If you insist on using mog scripts PLEASE, please use custom pictures and don't fill all your screenshots with nothing but showing mog menus. People want to see screenshots of the game, they want to see pictures that will make them curious about your project not how cool these scripts look.

And least but not least important, if your prepared on listing your project don't rage if people respond harshly or give you bad feedback, maybe they are right even though they responded a little harshly.

There could be more things but these where the most flaws I found by looking at your screens and reading your story losing interest instantly.

I understand most things but my mapping. I am not using big maps at all?

With the exception of post by Vexus following this one, there has been absolutely no constructive criticism in this thread to even say such a thing. Maybe instead of preaching about how one is supposed to accept criticism, we should teach how to give it. For anyone to even try and pretend that Sub and Rose weren't flaming is ludicrous. I didn't get the chance to read Futendra's response before it was deleted, and I'm sure it was filled with all sorts of stupidity because he was angry, but lets us not pretend that Rose and Sub were not the instigated just such a response.

I mean, lets get fucking real here. Futendra makes a wonderful target for the trolls. He lets it get to him, and responds, the two things that a troll loves. Rose and Sub are trolls. They have been both either banned/warned/both for it on multiple occasions. There are 8 pages in this category, and I don't see their "constructive criticism" in anything recently, but oh boy, there favorite target makes a thread and its open season.

Rose and Sub, if I had the authority to ban either one of you, you would be. And shame on you G_G for participating in this to the extent you position allows. That is all.
I am done scripting for RMXP. I will likely not offer support for even my own scripts anymore, but feel free to ask on the forum, there are plenty of other talented scripters that can help you.

Meh, that didn't quite come out the way I wanted. I wasn't trying to flame him Zer0, I was simply pointing out that him continuing to point out that Rose and Sub ruined his enthusiasm isn't getting him anywhere. I may have been in a slightly bad mood at that time so it did come out a bit more harsh then intended. And by any means am I agreeing with how Sub and Rose gave criticism, I was just trying to get him to understand that blaming those two for losing motivation isn't helping. I mean seriously, Rose and Sub are the two biggest trouble makers we have here. >_>

Subsonic_Noise

As I said, I never pretended what I did here was constructive :P I tried that with him many times before, and it does just as little.. and here, it really was just a reply to an insanely immature and retarded post.

If it does equally little, you could have saved yourself the hassle, though.

Nah, I admit it was fun. :P Oh well. But look, there he is actually willing to listen to constructive criticism. That's a new one.

Let me illustrate you a map of yours with a map of mine:

Mine

Yours are very empty making the room look too big and thus rendering it bland. Take a look at mine, you have detail all over the place, enough room where to walk and even enough space if you want other npcs roaming around.

I used only RTP like you but I put some details and effects here and there and poof the screen look nice.

Just my opinion of course since I'm the only one providing feedback here.

Maybe he learned his lesson. You should consider this possibility and try to accept it.

I figured he maybe did now. We'll see. :P As I said, if he actually shows improvement, I'll be more than willing to give constructive criticism.

I told you what was wrong with it. Blizz and yourself took it as flaming, but I am not going to suck your dick and fondle your balls just so you can take criticism. This project is bad, and you haven't placed any effort in it. If you have any love for game design or any desire to create something great you would not put this half-assed shit on the net. I am not going to hold your hand and pat your head when you do something like this. I will tell you exactly what irks me about it and let you improve from there. With all do respect, Blizz, I wont hold a circle jerk session when I take issue to a project. I told Fut that not to pick on him, but because I had a feeling that he had a latent desire to create something grand. Fut, if you want to quit here and run away with your tail between your legs then do so. Cancel your projects and remove your threads... or you could actually put some bloody effort in your games.

Edit sprite poses, write a script (dialogue script) to your game instead of just jacking off in the engine, and try to make something acceptable. This is unacceptable and I wont be the one here that treats you like a god damn retard saying very good while its complete and utter shit.

I came here to see good projects that I could play and be merry with, and I came to your thread specifically to see how you improved. Yet, you're not trying at all to do anything. You're downloading scripts and using default shit that I've seen a hundred times before and I'll be damned if I see ALUXES/ARSHES one more time as an rpg hero. I will say this once again. Scripts don't make the game and just because you can download someone's hard work doesn't mean that you should just overuse them. You need to show proper respect to the countless hours people wasted in the RGSS by actually TRYING to release a proper product. Ban me or not I've said my piece.

I haven't worked much on it really, and I understand that I was doing this completely wrong, the problem with me is patience, I don't have it.

I will start over with a new story to work around, you all don't have to but I'd apreciate support, I am new to RPG Maker really, I only made some crap games untill now and I would actually love to make a game that could be something to be proud of.

All I did untill now was ignore the flamish critisism and I will from now on not take critisism too personal and actually start making something acceptable. Scrap the tons of scripts big time, I will focus on gameplay and mapping now, I started googling some tutorials (I was at school today so couldn't watch them because of non-installed flash player) But I e-mailed some of them to myself. I will take my time making the game as I am haing a very hard time at school and don't have much time really...

I see what you mean, I should use space more efficient and shrink my maps, I should focus on detail and add more effects such as screen tone, fogs and moving events?

EDIT: How did you make that light effect? :D

Blizzard

@Rose: You do sound harsh in your post, but I can't really classify that as flaming. It's actually some good motivational talk to get up one's ass and do something. Besides, it seems to have had the right effect on Fut.
