The XAS tutorials are alright, but they seem kinda incomplete to me.

Is anyone making a flashy demo that uses Blizz ABS?
Blizz ABS needs one too, if XAS has one. :/

Edit: Or waitta minute, I should check topics about games which use Blizz ABS.
95% of teens would cry if they saw the Jonas Brothers @ the top of a skyscraper about to jump.
Copy and paste this if you are the 5% that would shout "Jump assholes!"

If I ever have freetime again, I'll actually put some time and effort into Dissipate.  It took so long to get the base of it done that I didn't have time to make it awesome.

Magus

Still though, Blizz config is the greatest thing Blizzard have ever came up with. I haven't tried many abs, the last one I tried that wasn't blizz abs sucked so back I deleted it.

As I said before, Blizz-abs is probably the most user-friends Advanced battle system ever.

Actually, to tell you guys, i have tested 4 ABS-es.
1: XAS, newest hero version... Yeah, its flashy, Controls SUCK as hell.....
2: Mr.mo I liked it, but the hud is AWFUL, and its very hard to configure...
3: A evented system, quite nice, very customizable, but awful for a guy who cant sprite (same with all of above)
4: Babs, To be honest, when i tested this one, my first reaction was: Suckish controls, Ugly hud...etc, but when i looked closer at the config files, i began to like it more and more...

XAS
Pros: Demo is very flashy.
Cons: really NOT lagless... No smart enemies... F*ckd up controls... For non scripters and non spriters, very evil.....

BABS
Pros: Very customizable... Doesnt require spriting skills for weapons... Doesnt require heavy scripting skills...
Comes with a great config programm... Compatible with a LOT of other scripts... Lot of addons made for it!
Great forum with great people willing to help each other!!
EDIT# Doesnt need that heavy scripting work for the same result :V:

Cons: Doesnt have a flashy demo... I want to have great sprites, but doesnt work for me ;P

Well, XAS sprites work with Blizz-ABS usually without problems. winkio is working on a flashy Blizz-ABS game and CoSLAL E.X.A. Edition will look a lot better. I'm just waiting for LB to make the cool action sprites. ;>_>
At least controls in Blizz-ABS can be changed and the HUD can be substituted with another one which the other ABSes have problems with. xD

EXACTLY! That's why blizzabs is the best of the best. It doesn't get any better than this. (that is until another version of blizz-abs comes out XD)

Figured that out, when i was just toying around, now the controls are working perfect, WSAD and arrow keys, ALT for DEF and CTRL for ATK. The Z-Hud is perfect for games like this ;) and To infinity and beyond!!!!

Blizz-ABS is way better and easier to use. If you want to prove everyone wrong make a game made in XAS thats not just thrown together.

Blizz-ABS has advanced ally AI and enemy AI. That and to start with Blizz-ABS you can pretty much just plug in the script and add some events named \e[1] if you want to test it out.

So dont even get started with that shitty post of yours because you proved nothing in XAS is better in Blizz-ABS you just said it is better. So therefor you lose.

legacyblade

He is just one of those n00bs who sees the demo and decides that means XAS is inherently better. Once they actually try to create only custom skills, smarter AI, and configure it to meet the needs of their game (rather than just configuring their game to meet the needs of XAS), they realize just how much of a pain the system is. Once you try blizzABS and see just how customizable and powerful it is, without being confusing or laggy, you understand how much better it is. However, there ARE some situations in which the XAS system's design make things easier. Not that you can't make it work in blizzABS, but sometimes it certainly IS easier to do something in XAS (switches are an obvious example)

I used to be one of dem n00bs lol
then this community showed how awesome blizz abs is, and now spit upon XAS!

I'm gonna throw my two cents in since I've played around with both.

First off they're both good battle systems, both written by creative and talented programmers. I'd argue that either can be well suited for an ABS game depending on what one's going for.

XAS is very good in that it allows to better customize actions without a lot of programming know how. For non-standard actions Blizz-ABS requires some lateral thinking and programming knowledge to move the battlers and skills around as needed, and to add custom effects (though Blizz-ABS is compatible with tons of add-ons). XAS comes with a "pre-flashified" demo, though it shouldn't matter if one wants to make an original art game. The fact that it's in Portugese is not a drawback as some have mentioned, it's a bit irritating to see that self centered view. There's always online translators and google which found me an English translation.

However, Blizz-ABS has a number of features XAS lacks, a lot of which've been mentioned. I think the pixel movement, support for 2+ party and AI stand out most.

On another note, I'm working on a flashy-type game using Blizz-ABS which will have sprites (original and modded) for actors and enemies to attack, use skills, etc. I've been working mostly on sprites for a few weeks, originally intending to use XAS but I've since switched gears to Blizz-ABS. The demo's about 80% done... and I may post the enemy action sprites for others to use once I release the demo.

And Blizz-ABS works with RMX-OS. Today or tomorrow the full version of the plugin will be out. :3

Too bad you have to either A. Master Portugeuse to use XAS, B. Be a master of scripting, which i am neither. I have tried to reverse engineer it if you will, but god the language barrier is death.
