Ikes are really annoying in free-for-all. A lot of them just stand around hitting forward smash/forward tilt/Eruption and catching everyone else off-guard while they're busy fighting. It doesn't help when you can see it coming, but the person who's just locked you in a jab combo can't.

I'm a Ganondorf user, myself.   :P

Heh, Ganondorf can be as mean as Ike can in free for all, believe you me.

But yeah, I'm an Ike player, and a pretty good one, if I do say so myself.

So do you lot fight eachother online or what? I'll give someone a game if they like. None of my friends are really into Smash.

I suppose it depends on the severity of the lag as to whether it's worth it or not. Although most of my friend matches work out just fine.

Gee, that's a big statement to say. Sonic is just a fast guy, but controlling his speed and actually manging to dish out those blows can work out for you. It just requires you to think a little more on the offensive.

And I can't trust the statement that you're very good at Smash. :V:

Almost wish there should be a tournament, if only the lag online is gone. -_-; Why can't it be like Mario Kart Wii?

What's osu!? It's a rhythm game. Thought I should have a signature with a working rank. ;P It's now clickable!
Still Aqua's biggest fan (Or am I?).

No, Sonic's terrible. He's fast, but it means nothing if his attacks are just average- he's still easy to counter, his moves have a good amount of lag, and he's got terrible hitboxes. Fast ground speed only pressures the opponent to think faster, but once they're in the air you lose that advantage as well, and it's not much of a big one since you have to think faster too. Bad damage, bad knockback, decent lag, bad damage taking, and good ground speed. Just a poor character overall. Plus, his specials are neasr unusable, as they actually LIMIT your approach options.

He's not the worst character, Captain Falcon has absolute failure as priority and mediocre moves at best, but then again he's the bottom of the bottom for a reason. He's far from a good one though.

Playing that many characters can't be that good for you, as fully learning a character takes a lot of time for most people. I wont believe anyone here's good or bad until I play them in a game of Smash that isn't made out of lag.

Actually, I heard that the best smash player, pre-Brawl, was a Captain Falcon player. Ironically, he is low tier.

And playing many characters is half the fun I'd say. Experimenting is more fun to me than being a good smash player. I'd rather have some good, wholesome fun than get really good. Not like anyone actually cares about Brawl in the long run.

It's ironic Meta, you have the No Doubleposting in 24 hours rule in your signature and yet you doubleposted within 20 minutes.

I have taken the liberty of combining the posts and deleting the doublepost.

Rule 2: ShowHide
Quote from: Rule No.2Keep your signatures at reasonable size. The pictures in your signature may altogether be no more than 200kB and take up an area of 1600px2. That means 2 pictures of 400x200 are fine, one picture of 800x200 is fine and so on. Also your pictures height must not exceed 200 pixels, width can be as big as you want as long as your pictures match the other criteria. Every signature not matching this criteria is a subject of the moderator team to remove and leave this rule as message in your signature.

Wait, has metaknight, the brawl character, been banned from lots of tournies still? :O.o:  He was my fav...

Reygekan

There was also a Melee player who was good with Pichu, who was near the bottom. Also, that may have been in 64, I don't know, but in Melee the best was Ken- a Marth player.

Tiers do not make a player, but they do list characters based on how good they are. Yes, a pro played Pichu, but Pichu isn't better for it.

MetaKnight is soft banned, but not hard banned so you can still use him.

Tazero

Meta knight the second best Char in GAME!w00t ^^

woah!  3 of my favs are at the top: meta, G&W, and ROB.  Yoshi, my other is low :O.o:

Good to see this.  Of course, skilled people are skilled people, no matter what character they used, but its fun to look at.

Diokatsu

The tiers don't necessarily mean that the character is bad, as you can be quite good with any character you're comfortable with.

Reygekan

No, tiers mean a character is good or bad. That doesn't make the player good or bad. You're trying to say the same thing, but wording it funny :P A player can be good with any character. Tiers are simply character capability, it's a perfect player vs perfect player scenario. For example, tournament listings put Falco in second, Captain Falcon and Sonic somewhere in the middle, and Ike near the bottom. Tiers do not make a player however they are a judge of character potential. You can be good with anybody and there are pros known for using the worst, but that doesn't invalidate tiers at all, it just means the players are good.

Starrodkirby86

Well, it looks like Tiers have somehow marched into this little thread. ...I was hoping that was not to happen. >.> I mean, there's a giant amount of people who are not very supportive of tiers, especially concerning the last game where Roy was considered a low tier. That caused a lot of fangirls of Roy to go crazy. What's the source for that Tier List by the way? Is it the most canon of Tier Lists (Can't say official since all Tier Lists are unofficial :P ) e.g. the Tiers List for Pokemon on Smogon ?

Reygekan

It's the "official" one, basically the most recognized one that the Smash Back Room decided on. It's still Version 1, which means that it's subject to change as the metagame evolves. Wavedashing was discovered 2 years into Melee's metagame, and it changed everything drastically.

And people are generally unsupportive when their characters come last, but it's still interesting to know. It doesn't affect anyone's skill with the character, and shouldn't be used to decide who you use or not, in fact it should motivate you to be better with lower tier characters if anything.

You're more likely to see characters higher on the tier list however, so it's a good way to know who to prepare for most.

GAX

SILLY NEWBIES, TIERS ARE FOR QUEERS!

XD

Well, I'm known to BAN characters outright from tournaments.  Namely, I ban the following:
Sonic
Pit (Sorry kid, spammable Melee skill + Spammable projectile = too far)
I think that's all I ban really...

OH, and I ALWAYS ban all Smash Balls...they just give a seriously unfair advantage to whoever grabs them, it offsets the match too much.
