I think they should get extra credit for popular references and amazing humor.

In other words, fail Sally now :V: j/k

November...I'M  IN!

Now, should I be serious or shall the lulz commence?

Rule 2: ShowHide
Quote from: Rule No.2Keep your signatures at reasonable size. The pictures in your signature may altogether be no more than 200kB and take up an area of 1600px2. That means 2 pictures of 400x200 are fine, one picture of 800x200 is fine and so on. Also your pictures height must not exceed 200 pixels, width can be as big as you want as long as your pictures match the other criteria. Every signature not matching this criteria is a subject of the moderator team to remove and leave this rule as message in your signature.

Please be serious ...

For me, I am hoping to gain some knowledge about constructing some good boss battles from this competition, so I have high hopes for the contestants.

And like I said, once I finish my configuring Minkoff's, and create some custom battlers ... I may enter as well.

As am I. That's my primary reason for judging - I want to learn what plays well, without the bias of having created it myself.

Hurray, similarity. XD.

I think im just going to make a kick ass 5 min cutscene, then throw a little fight in there. :^_^':

Sally

Progress of Aqua, Valcos, and Sally: Far
Progress of me: Not so much

~</3

My cut scene is going to be full of Cheez Whiz. It's going to be quite delicious. Like, my story's about these two fat people that want this piece of Cheez Whiz so badly (Because they're obsessed with that brand, hence their weight). The other fat guy turns into a giant demon, which leaves the first fat guy to beat him up in a one and one light-saber battle~ I think my thing will win for sure. :V:

(Hint hint: I'm actually not doing this scenario)

I still propose that the filesize should be increased to something over 5 MB, perhaps 10. It's still a reasonable size...Custom resources are going to take a lot of space...For example, Animation sheets are 1 MB (As Aqua mentions), music files should be 1-3 MB total or something, any fancy pictures can equal up to 1-3 MB, and the additional packaging will require a bit around 500 KB or so.

I hope people support my opinion. If not, I might as well find another way to compress and do workarounds. :3

What's osu!? It's a rhythm game. Thought I should have a signature with a working rank. ;P It's now clickable!
Still Aqua's biggest fan (Or am I?).

Valcos

Um, I support you!!

And... if it makes you feel any better, I have got no work done for this competition. BUT! I have got work dont for Nams!! >:(

Sally

ahh,, yeah... i agree, 5mb is short. 10mb sounds nice.

Aqua

I agree! XD
I'm at 5.30 MB - animations took up that room... and I want more... xD

Reno-s--Joker

Yeah, I realised that some PNGs don't even compress when you zip them. WTF. >:U

10MB it is! Although I feel like making it 12MB for some reason... o_O

Starrodkirby86

I love you, big sister.

If you want it 12 MB, feel free. I don't feel shackled in chains anymore~

Aqua

Thanks Reno!

*must resist filling the rest of my available space with animations...*

Reno-s--Joker

Awesome! I'm going back into hibernation. Just send me a PM if you need me to change any more rules you horrible-exploiters-of-how-much-I-love-you.

:V: :V: :V:

Yeah just to be safe I think I will make it 12MB.

Aqua

Here's a tool for anyone in this.
It allows you to take the current in game time whenever you want, and appends each take into an external file.
You can easily check how long your cutscene(s) before/after the battle by taking the time at

  • the beginning of the game (which should be 0... XD)

  • the start of the battle

  • the end of the battle

  • as the game ends

Then manually do the math.
(4th - 1st) - (3rd - 2nd) = Time of cutscenes
3rd - 2nd = Time of battle

Spoiler: ShowHide

module Aqua

 # Saves current play time in external file
 # Can be used to see how long the game is outside the battle
 # Use Aqua.take_time at the moment in which you wish to...take the time :P
 def self.take_time

   @total_sec = Graphics.frame_count / Graphics.frame_rate
   hour = @total_sec / 60 / 60
   min = @total_sec / 60 % 60
   sec = @total_sec % 60
   text = sprintf("%02d:%02d:%02d ", hour, min, sec)

   File.open('game_time.txt', "a") { |f|
     Marshal.dump(text, f)
   }

 end
end
